I run Maxima Super M at 40:1 with min 91 octane in all my 2 strokes. Lawn equipment, yz125, old 440 superstock jet ski.... never an oil related issue.

So, it spins over fine with the plug removed? They dont have a compression release that Im aware of. Maybe just some rust in the bore? Spray some lube or oil down the plug hole and spin it over a few times. Reinstall the plug and try again. I've worked on a few, mostly carb work as they are...
