high price on 1993 Cobra R

It's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. There is plenty of evidence that people are paying high numbers, maybe not you or I but some do.

high price on 1993 Cobra R

It's about perspective. I wouldn't spend that on a mustang either but its an all original, low production, low mile car that is 33 years old This isn't far off what a 1969 Yenko camaro, or 1970 chevelle LS6 454, 1971 Cuda 440, 1970 ford boss 429 or boss 302 would have gone for in 2002-2004 if...

Beautiful truck! My dad had a 1971 C10 growing up, would love to find one again.

2017 Infiniti QX50 - Opinion on replacement brakes?

Looks like rock auto has the Brembo Prime brake pad options for your vehicle. Looks like the front pads for your rig have a HH rating for friction coefficient which should be a nice upgrade from stock. I just installed the Brembo Prime pads front and rear on my 07 camry and have been pretty...

Weed wacker string life is pathetic

Probably the fact you are spinning your plastic string into abrasives like dirt, concrete, and asphalt. How long do you expect the string to last? You're not using a tool designed for a job you are using a tool of convenience that will do the job, just not do it in the most ideal fashion.

Big Boy 4014 Climbing the Horseshoe Curve in Central PA

Nice theory but the feed water pump in 100% independent from wheel rotation. your reasoning for the black smoke is a little closer. The exhausted steam from the cylinders blows up the stack and creates most of the draft through the combustion chamber. When wheel slip occurs they need to...

What brakes do you guys use?

I just installed Brembo Prime pads front and rear with new rotors on my 07 Camry. I've only got about 500 miles on them so far but thus far, I am impressed. Front pads are GH and rear pads are GG. So far smooth as glass, good initial bite, and good feel. we'll see when they break in a little...

    Steam engine Big Boy #4014

I saw it several years ago when it came through St Paul, MN. Huge machine! The only thing that ticked me off is that when they took off it seemed like they used the help from the diesel elec locomotive, I really wanted to hear the chug o chug from that beast, but I was deprived. Sometimes...

    NAPA Adaptive One

That was my experience as well. Not all applications are equal though, it's really frustrating finding pads you like at times

    NAPA Adaptive One

Im not sure the adaptive one pads are still like this but when they were introduced many years ago their claim was that the inner vs outer pads deal with different cooling ability, thus their friction coefficients were optimized for that attribute. This meant slightly different friction...

    NAPA Adaptive One

Take a look at the friction coefficient on these. I ran these on my 07 camry years ago and was unimpressed. One pad was FE and the other was FF if I recall properly. This ended up being a pretty noticeable downgrade for this application when compared to factory pads.

Help with Fuel Trims - 2002 Express 3500

Where is the evap purge solenoid located? When it's open it can easily favor one bank or the other and cause fuel trims to go -10% pretty easily on one bank.

    Cheapest new gas lawn mower

That 2500 rpm is torque peak most new lawn mowers are set to turn 2900-3100 rpm these days from the factory for noise and to keep blade speeds well under the max I usually turn them up as long as I don't need to go too in depth with modifications

    Oil quantity, Ford Godzilla V8

You didn't check the oil after the oil change? My 21 silverado 5.3 calls for "8 quarts" with a filter change as well but the reality is that if I let it drain for an hour it will often take 8.5 quarts and maybe even a tad more to reach the full line so I wouldn't be too surprised if other...

    Ring and Pinion pattern thoughts

Red loctite is going on regardless. The evidence of a pinion nut backing off in a past debacle is visible on the carrier in my photos. The pinion gear will contact the differential carrier and destroy stuff. Each time the rear has been rebuilt by someone else it has failed, once from a pinion...

    Ring and Pinion pattern thoughts

I started with a brake hone/small cylinder 3 stone hone and it was taking far FAR too long and already burned up a set of stones before the first bearing was done! So I ended up finding an 80 grit flapper wheel for my dremel and it still took a while. I put my pinion and diff in the freezer...

    Ring and Pinion pattern thoughts

I made setup bearings, have a solid pinion sleeve, I have a new nut, red loctite. It's all torn back down now to press on the real bearings

    Ring and Pinion pattern thoughts

I don't frequent the track much anymore... The Ford 8.8 conversions are intriguing, but any way you slice it you're going to spend 4g's no matter if it's a 9", 12 bolt, dana 60, or Ford 8.8 Still hard to justify, next time it breaks, its happening though.

    Ring and Pinion pattern thoughts

Yes, the infamous glass diff in 3rd and 4th gen f-bodies. I'm asking a lot of it, I put about 430 to the tire right now After removing .002" from pinion depth this is the result at .007" backlash
