Water pump is the issue on the 6 cylinder, and only once per 60k-90k. As far as the 4 cylinder, seems to be ok for the most part. Used in drift swaps often, due to handling abuse pretty well. I only have experience with its smaller brother (2.3L vs 2.0L Ecoboost family) in the Ford Edge of that...

When used hard (spirited driving, or towing, etc.) my timing chain engines start to get more audible as the oil gets thinned down. Or simply due to miles on oil interval. With 15W40 that doesn't happen. And being synthetic it also doesn't rattle on cold startups. Non-synthetic Mobil or...

My VQ35 and VK56 have been pretty happy with 5W-50 in NC. This time it's Amalie Elixir 5W-50, but I use plenty of other 40/50 grade oils. SuperTech Synthetic 15W-40 is my favorite.

I don't understand why the Maverick isn't more popular than it is. Over 40MPG while being able to slap the refrigerator, a couch, or washer/dryer in the bed? Can't beat that. Only wish it was still $19,995 starting price as it was originally advertised... nearly $30k now for base model...
