What are you working on today?

Just odds and sods for this simpleton. My wife is gearing up for an Arab horse show this weekend so.... the 6 horse came out from the winter slumber. Was cleaned, tires aired, bearings and jack greased and brakes seem to be working fine. The spare tire was found to have bad tread separation...

    EVs on Long Road Trips

With the 2022 Mach e, we dont go far. I limit the excursions to under 300km round trip. I've seen the range drop at a geometric rate, leaving me with range anxiety. As well, the rural areas do not have the infrastructure to support ev travel. I'm not waiting an hour or more to fill the...

    Wife's New Stihl FS 131

Sorry, I never said, I settled on the FS 111. It was the only one in stock with the bike handles. We needed one a while ago but we're so busy. The rain and heat made the grass and weeds explode so this was it. If it turns out to not be enough, we'll order up the bigger one.

    Wife's New Stihl FS 131

Nice!!! I look forward to letting it really rip. I'm just using up some treated 45ish:1 premix and then I'll mix up whatever stihl oil was bought with it to up the warranty. Unless it's that biodegradable stuff, then I'll find something better.

    Wife's New Stihl FS 131

After reading this thread, I went looking at the local Stihl dealer. Looked for the same FS 131 but they were sold out. The FS 240's apparently had the loop handle so I thought I settled as I needed a new trimmer (both of mine went down at the same time). I hadn't read the manual so was...

What are you working on today?

Well, it's been a day. I replaced the wheel bearing in the Escape. Fixed? Why would it be? So, replaced last time with SKF unit. Sound went away but I figured I pushed in the inside grease seal on install. Well, several thousand km later, the sound returned. Old bearing was ripped apart...

What are you working on today?

Last night I ripped out the driver front wheel bearing on the 2004 Escape, took just a hair over an hour to have it out and the race removed from the hub. NAPA has one on order and likely did or was suppose to arrive today. Planned to install tonight but I never got the call from them and work...

Cpap folks, what's going on with me?

Hoping the CPAP helps and is the prescribed method to help you, it takes time to adjust. Just hit 3 years for me with an airsense 10. Forget the mask type but the resmed one that covers just my nose. It does irritate the bridge of my nose from time to time, mostly when I get a new one. While...

What are you working on today?

Brakes are in, both sides on the old 3500. On further inspection, I noticed slight seepage on the driver side hub inner seal. Its very minimal do I'll likely change it out after this season ends. Also, the rear u joint on the driveshaft expelled a little grease but still feels tight. That is...

    Gravity brake fluid flush

@skyactiv real fancy with that bottle! I, unfortunately am using an old water bottle. Same contraption that has been in use for just over 10 years. The simple gravity bleed has worked very well for me. I suction out the reservoir, fill with fresh fluid and then crack the bleeders. If I'm...

    Tuff Torq K46 Fluid Change

I think I was north of 100 hours on my 2014ish Craftsman T3200 with the K46. Bought it used and glad I dropped the unit for a drain and fill. I ripped into it though, the magnets were full and quite a bit of debris in the filter basket. I used Motomaster 5w50(Shell made at the time, this was...

What are you working on today?

Cleaned up the old 2004 Escape. I pulled the driver door panel and lubed up the latch mechanism, it opens and closes as good as a Ford can. I'll call Napa tomorrow and see of they have a cheapo wheel bearing for the front, hoping so as I want it gone in the next few days. The e brake parts...

What are you doing right now?

@AutoMechanic that sucks. I dealt with some garbage at work, a few years ago it got bad enough that I was willing to pull the pin with over 17 years in. I began researching other opportunities for my experience. I told upper management that there are plenty of other places hiring right now...

What are you working on today?

@D60, us white trash over at the trailer park are quite proud!

    Post your latest oil change

I had snagged a picture of the filter from the Grand Caravan. With zoom I can see it's a Chinese made Napa Proselect.

    Post your latest oil change

Did the parents 2021 Grand Caravan 3.6. 26,670km. Out was unknown and in went Castrol Edge 0w20 and Mopar filter. I used some Mobil 0w30 to top up past the 5L of Castrol.

What are you working on today?

Went to diagnose the speed related tick on the 3500 towing the 3 horse tag. Figured it was the trailer as there was some bearing play. Pulled all four wheels, inspected bearings and brakes. Freshened up the grease, retorque spindles as per Dexter and adjust brakes. Always a good excuse to do...

    Motomaster/Champ Pentastar oil filter

So I took a trip down to Cambodian Tire to snag a filter. So, the possibly Champ made OEMPlus filters we're sold out. My local store has a large stock of Wix now, the cross was made in SE Asia, now forgetting but possibly Vietnam. I picked up the Mopar filter, with the only COO being the US...

What are you working on today?

It's 31c here today. While not crazy like you southerners, eith the humidity, it's cooking up here. I took the Trailblazer to town, fuelled it and snagged a can of refrigerant as the ac is not as cold as it should be. I'll need another can as it barely touched it. I snagged some oil and a...

Post how you fixed the issue causing a check engine light and code.

Alright, I'll bite. I had posted this years prior but was a long one. I had my 2017 Ram 3500 6.7 deleted. Used a Bulkydog tuner, 5" flo-pro exhaust (4" kits were back order during covid) but I left the EGR cooler and all plumbing intact but all electrical connectors untouched I wanted to...
