Local Wal-Mart turned away oil change customer... no oil filters in stock for his vehicle.

The attorney that my wife worked for takes his vehicle to Walmart for oil changes. They stripped this oil pan threads and attempted to explain the legal ramifications to him. He eventually set them straight and got it fixed on Walmart's dime.

    Open Source AI is Amazing

AI will reduce some jobs in the legal field. If properly implemented, my wife's job would be a lot less in demand. She was a legal secretary and AI can write legal complaints, motions, etc a lot faster than she can type them out. Currently, her firm has one legal secretary per attorney. That...

    Vintage Fishing Reels

I bought a Ru Mer Super reel about 30 years ago for $5 at a yard sale. Might start using it again in retirement.

Anyone else turn everything off when you stop the car?

I just hit the off button on the ignition. My wife turns everything off. I think she's silly. The car's computer knows what it's doing. My AC compressor doesn't kick on as soon as I start the car. It waits until the computer tells it that it's safe to turn on.

Wanna get serious about traveling show prep.

I hear SHO and I think Mustang or Taurus. Tape heads? I assume cassette and this isn't about critical systems but aesthetics. Pics, pics, pics?

    2025-2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid

My wife has heating steering wheel in her RAV4. It's really nice. If you live in cold weather, I'd recommend it. Heated seats are nice, too.

    Battery handheld air compressor

Are they making bigger MRI machines for us claustrophobic folks? I'm very happy with my little Ryobi inflator. Very nice to top up tires at home easily.

What are you working on today?

Did rear diff fluid in the RAV4 today. Noticed a leak of pink fluid from the front end. Did the ATF yesterday and thought uh oh. Luckily it was just a loose radiator cap that inadvertently loosened working on the serpentine belt on Friday. Took me 4 hours for the ATF and transfer case...

    Rounded belt tensioner nut. Ugh

Failed to mention that I dropped two 14 mm wrenches into the engine bay yesterday. Removed the splash shield today to service the ATF and transfer case and retrieved the wrenches plus a 10 mm socket that I dropped a few months ago. The wife noticed that the rear fenders and mud guards were...

    Rounded belt tensioner nut. Ugh

It's just there to move the tensioner. It doesn't unthread.

    Rounded belt tensioner nut. Ugh

It's a 14mm nut. Soft metal. Belt tensioners are my nemesis.

    Rounded belt tensioner nut. Ugh

There were some choice words and she asked why. She's very attentive when her baby has its hood up.

    Rounded belt tensioner nut. Ugh

I'm such a hack. Used a ratcheting box wrench and a pipe to turn the tensioner nut. The wrench got stuck with the belt 3/4 of the way on the ac hub. The whole thing was stuck and wouldn't budge. Had to get angry at the wrench to get it off the tensioner. The belt was still 3/4 on the ac hub...

Snap-on tool prices are out of sight.

Coach is mid. You need Louie Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, Hermes... My wife is partial to Louie Vuitton and they hold value very well. She can sell them used for what she paid for them or very close to it as they keep raising their prices.

Nissan and Toyota are issuing rationing

I picked up a couple jugs of 0w20 at Costco yesterday. They had lots of oil. I'm up to 6 jugs at home and set for a few years now.

Long Term Oil Testing With Lake Speed, Jr aka "The Motor Oil Geek"

The world is not ready to hear that there were no discernable statistically significant differences between the oils. That is anticlimactic and boring.

    Strut replacement

Changing struts in my old Corolla was my first use of my new battery powered impact wrench. Highly recommended if you don't already have an impact. Four or 5 uggas on the bottom bolts and you should be good to go.
