The old one, however, had the most reliable production engine ever made in the 4.0L V6 dual VVT-i despite its lousy gas mileage. 16 years of the engine in the 4Runner for a reason. The Car Care Nut, like him or not, said he'd never seen the inside of one bc they never broke as of like 3 or 4...

Did you do the accumulator mod on the MT? That thing drove me crazy in the brief time I had the 3rd gen 6MT...

Reformulations already happening?

Stocked up for quality and reformulation unknowns as well.

Local Meijer prices still good. Supply is on the lower side but not bad...

For me it's more supply than cost...and reformulations that may not be optimum to try to make up for supply that other thread authors have noted are probably already occurring.

It's not all about cost - it could be a supply issue or reformulations that may not be as desirable to make up for the group III shortages.

What about the fact that it looks like reformulations are going to be occurring with non-group III for a while to cover supply issues? See the Oil Industry news thread on that one. I'd like to circumvent that if I can, so I have 2 years worth or so.

Meijer has extended their sale on many brands thru 7/14, e.g. Valvoline Restore and Protect is $29 for the 5qt

Menard's is still hanging on to $21 for Quaker State Full Synthetic for now...

I kinda feel like you don't understand how all this works...or has worked for generations...

I'd be willing to bet a couple more similar price jumps will be coming by winter.
