@addyguy just curious if you’re seeing anything different now? And what part of Canada are you in? I’m not really seeing any out of stock, maybe less of some on shelves. And still regular sales, like VRP and M1 ESP this week for example.

How old is some of your oil - what’s the date on it?

So I might have gone a little overboard. Although 3 regularly driven vehicles with a fair amount of highway driving and a project Model A. Still have some random quarts I didn’t feel like digging out and a handful of Mann filters for the VW.

Purchased yesterday on sale for future use in the new Volvo instead of 0W-20. Have some Liqui Moly coming as well. Once it’s here I’ll work on organizing and posting a pic of the hoarding stash.

Doesn’t Vancouver have a lot of stop and go traffic? It does in my experience but maybe not for your routine. I did an early oil change (1600 km) on our new Volvo and did not change the filter. Low iron and aluminum but a fair amount of copper in the UOA. Next oil change coming up soonish at...

Gotcha. I’m aware of geopolitical events, I’m just not see any actual shortages in person just yet. If anything, short on stock temporarily due to hoarding. Yes I am hoarding but I’ve always purchased excess in advance when on sale.

I recommend you have a used oil analysis done and see if you really need such short intervals. Being in Canada I do a ton of idling in winter and short drives with our vehicles around town and used oil analysis hasn’t shown any issues.

We have friends stashing tubs of stuff who are moving out of town this weekend. Once they’re gone I might have to line up my stash of oil and post a pic.

Looking at Amsoil, EAO80 is $25 with membership, DBL7349 is 30. Locally at Traction, DBL is $36 I believe. Only problem going with Amsoil is I have enough fluids for all vehicles for 4-5 years at least 😬 and I don’t want to just order a couple filters from them. We’ll see though, no rush.

Not very cost effective in Canada

How much were you opening the engine to fix the leaks? If there’s a chance dust got in while taking care of those I’d dump it.
