Certainly not needed. Others have recommended these grades, might be worth a try. High RPM shifting has always been extremely smooth on this bike, sometimes a bit notchy when putting around. That could just be user error, though. Ha! The links you provided for the Motul seem to be a good price...

The Motul 300V has me intrigued. Also, I am pondering going to a 15W-50 or 20W-50 in the Amsoil or any of the other brands suggested. I appreciate everyone's input.

I use gear oil and a rag to both clean and lubricate.

Would you say the 300v is suitable for road use? ...assuming I kept the OCI relatively low.

Not standard, one of the few mods I have made. Nice sound indeed.

I agree. I found a "dealer mode" connector and switch on ebay. I have seen some use a paperclip but I wouldn't want to damage the connector.

Currently running Amsoil Metric Motorcycle 10W-40 and Suzuki filter. No complaints whatsoever with these just looking for cheaper or locally available options (Walmart, NAPA, Carquest, etc.) Thanks!

My most recent shipment from a few days ago of SS 5W-30 is labeled API SP. I was pleased to get this formulation as I was using it to supplement leftovers from a previous shipment. I am curious if the current and upcoming formulations are compatible if blended together.

Yes indeed. 20 quarts on order. I recently switched from 5W-20 to 5W-30 in my Mustang. That consumed 10 quarts from my 5W-30 stock which I negligently did not replace.
