    2001 Grand Marquis Overheating

The lack of system pressure is your strongest symptom to start investigating

1992 Ford Crown Victoria 4.6L 100k mi; HPL No VII Euro 10w30 5.1k mi - used oil analysis

5 or 6 between that first drain and this sample, most of which were done shorty after purchase between 1000-2000 miles, before going to a 5000 mile interval. Every other fluid has been changed as well at this point, as well as several other minor repairs and upgrades.

1992 Ford Crown Victoria 4.6L 100k mi; HPL No VII Euro 10w30 5.1k mi - used oil analysis

I was originally planning to run the Euro FS 0w40, but my work had the supercar in stock that day and I didn't want to make an extra trip to the store. Either way, both are overkill for this application

1992 Ford Crown Victoria 4.6L 100k mi; HPL No VII Euro 10w30 5.1k mi - used oil analysis

If further analysis comes back good on the engine, I may go back to HPL, but with extended runs

1992 Ford Crown Victoria 4.6L 100k mi; HPL No VII Euro 10w30 5.1k mi - used oil analysis

Second analysis on the Crown Vic after several changes since the last analysis. I will link to previous thread for context on why the first report was so horrible below. It was entertaining to run what I consider to be one of the best commercially available oils, but I cannot justify continuing...

Curious on what you all think my 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis is worth?

I think its worth 6k, at least, probably 7k. If it had been for sale when I was looking for a car, I would have paid that much for it easily. Of course, when I was looking, it seemed like everything for sale was in terrible condition and overpriced, I was happy to find a rust free, clean body...

    Mahle OC705

I did spread that pleat open, you can get a better idea of the actual pleat spacing from the photos where the filter is still on the filter cutter. There were no media tears

    Mahle OC705

This one was manufactured in China

    Mahle OC705

I opened up the pleat to get a better look for debris, pleat spacing was even before that

Was used on the Crown Vic for a 5000 mile interval with HPL no VII euro 10w-30. Cleanest filter I've seen on this car yet, see my other threads to see how much cleanup has occured. Finally no visible metal, although there was still some black grit, which I assume is carbon. I will be sending the...

Has there ever been a mainstream vehicle that holds its value as well as a 5th Gen 4Runner?

The resale is insane, but I can say I totally get the appeal. My wife has had two, the first sadly totalled in a rear end collision, but the new one is even better, it has never been exposed to serious road salt. We plan to keep it for a long time, and use its capabilities. If and when it does...

2002 Grand Marquis - Nearly 25 fuel trims

That fuel pressure seems crazy high, I would investigate that first, that will cause a rich condition, the vehicle is attempting to compensate

    Rough week with older cars

Seems like mostly bad luck, most of this isn't on the OP. A cooling system issue on a 2018 is disappointing but does happen, a bad starter is also just what happens sometimes, not many people replace starter motors preventatively. The ILX not starting because of a dead battery after a month of...

Bikers: daily riders or weekend warriors, what are you?

I try to commute on mine at least 3-4 days a week in the summer months. If I feel slightly groggy, or rushed in the morning I hop in the car, not worth the risk. When I ride, I arrive to work feeling refreshed and awake which is really nice, I always have a great start to the day after riding...

Recommendations for Best OIL Brand & Viscosity for New England States

You probably need to be more worried about rust in that part of the country, lots and lots of salt on the roads. Have you done any kind of undercoating?

    Father/Son Project: 2006 Toyota Tacoma w/1GR-FE...Known Issues?

Probably one of Toyota's best engines. I wouldn't bother trying to use the fuel in there if there is any, the truck has been stored outside, and exposed to more humidity and temperature changes than a "barn find". Start with fresh fuel. I'd get it running first, consider a valve lash check, they...

HPL Bad Ass Racing Oil DLM, 3.3k miles;FIAT 500 Abarth, 1.4L Multiair, 74.1k mi

Thanks for posting, it's always interesting to see analysis results from highly tuned engines. It looks like sticking with short intervals, with high quality oil, is the way to go. That fuel dilution isn't even that bad considering the use/spec of the vehicle
