This is for an 85 suburban with x pipe exhaust and no converters.

Our rod bearing clearance is 2.1995 and mains at 2.7488. How does this factor in for the oil weight?

I’ll check the build sheet tomorrow for clearances. He actually likes the heavier weight for protection but said the 10/30 will work if I want to run it.

Which seals? The engine was pulled, bored, and honed for a complete rebuild.

I put the Mobil 1 15w50 in yesterday. Curious to see how it does. I can already see my oil pressure is higher at all facets (at least with this old factory mechanical gauge).

The Mobil 1 is dumb cheap (5 qt jug for $28)

I’m gonna try the 15w50 Mobil 1. It’s cheap as chips for $28 for 5 quart jugs.

I’m in central Texas so definitely a warmer climate 90 percent of the time.

Thanks! I contacted driven and they recommended I go with their 20w50. My bearings are standard size in the rebuild.

Maybe Mobil 1 15w50 would be good then?
