    2023 GMC Canyon 2.7L L3B TurboMax (15,261 mi), Amsoil Signature Series 5W-30 (5,318 mi), 3rd oil change

I thought the same thing until I dropped the transmission pan a couple weeks ago to change the fluid and found a substantial amount of actual sand inside. I assume the engine was poorly cleaned the same way.

    2023 GMC Canyon 2.7L L3B TurboMax (15,261 mi), Amsoil Signature Series 5W-30 (5,318 mi), 3rd oil change

Just received the analysis back for my third oil change on my 2023 GMC Canyon. 5,318 miles in ~11.5 months. I live in a very hot, dusty, and dry environment but also get plenty of snow in the winter. Driving conditions are a combination of short around town trips (2-10mi) and medium trips out...

Packaging and Claim Changes on Mobil 1 Truck and SUV

IIRC if you look up the PDS of any of their oils they are all dated May 13 2026, and all the figures are inferior to the preceding datasheet. It seems like they ended up changing to inferior base stocks due to the oil shortage in all their products. I went to Walmart and O'Reillys to pick up...

Packaging and Claim Changes on Mobil 1 Truck and SUV

I wish I had saved copies of the most recent datasheet before the reformulation in May. Prior to that it still had compelling figures like really low pour point and really high flash point. Now both are mediocre and the viscosity is down. That labeling change is from before the May...

    Seeking 2026 dexos1 Gen 3 5W-30 oil rec for a new CT4-V Blackwing (LF4)

I skipped the Dexos1 Gen3 on my truck after dumping the factory fill and have been using Amsoil SS. If I got a blackwing I'd just keep on using Amsoil. The new formula is supposed to be out this month with improved performance. Although it's unclear what that means quantitatively until they...

    Seeking 2026 dexos1 Gen 3 5W-30 oil rec for a new CT4-V Blackwing (LF4)

I don't know, I did UOA's for every change since new as my paper trail. Harder to dispute a UOA vs. a random receipt. The only confusing thing was how much silica was present, but I'm expecting it to be gone on the third OCI, which I'm waiting for the report from right now.

Price of Amsoil going up at midnight

The motorcycle oil data sheet is dated 3/2026. That's too early in the year to have been a response to the oil shortage, which didn't really start to be realized until April or May. 10W-30 is unchanged. 10w-40 is down. The rest are up.

Beats the alternative of playing musical base stocks to keep prices down.

Mobil 1 Advanced Clean formulation change

I'm running it long term in one of my cars, but not for the cleaning. The PDS had some really compelling figures on it before the mystery base oil swap and I just picked up several from walmart on the cheap. Just started the first OCI last month.

    Amsoil Signature Series & GF-7

@Pablo On a side note, can you comment on if Amsoil is expected to deliver this new formula without making inferior base stock substitutions like we've been seeing evidence of from other, more prominent brands?

    Amsoil Signature Series & GF-7

I get the idea this level of cleaning is incompatible with the target oil change intervals for AMSOIL Signature Series. I assume if they made something like this, it would be a dedicated SKU meant for shorter cleaning intervals around 5k

Mobil 1 Advanced Clean formulation change

The way they are handling this entire situation seems very rushed and "fly by the seat of the pants". A calculated and methodical approach just wasn't within their capability, I guess.

    Amsoil Signature Series & GF-7

Hey, that's pretty good. I had to go look up the NOACK figure for current AMSOIL Signature Series 0w20, which is 8.5%. Outstanding improvement for a thin oil like that. I'll await the rest of the spec for the lineup to see how all the rest of the grades have improved.

VOA/SDS - Pro Honda HP4RU Ultra Synthetic Racing Oil

Out of curiosity (and ignorance) how does it achieve such a high flash point with 10-20% ester content? Wouldn't it need a higher ester content?

VOA/SDS - Pro Honda HP4RU Ultra Synthetic Racing Oil

All of the information I've been able to gather thus far. It seems to be a solid oil with a good additive package. TBN seems slightly low, but it seems like D4739 reads low compared to the D2896 TBN used on new oil datasheets. It seems like Idemitsu only lists "Synthetic Lubricant" for true...

    XR650L 3.9k mi; Honda HP4S 10w-30 1.9k mi

It's not. From everything I can gather, Idemitsu only lists "Synthetic Lubricant" for group IV/V base stocks in their SDS. HP4S says 90-100% Lubricating Base Stocks, so its group III at best. Compare to the HP4RU "Ultra Synthetic" where its 70-80% Synthetic Lubricant with a small amount of...
