ROTORS: AC Delco Gold / Professional vs Napa Premium

The Premium line of Centric was what I used. Now, was my caliper failing before or after the rotor warped? It was definitely warped rotors. I’m so far happy with the Raybestos coated rotors @Trav recommended. It’s also TBD how long the akebono ProAct pads last, but I love how quiet they are and...

ROTORS: AC Delco Gold / Professional vs Napa Premium

Update: I have installed a new Raybestos caliper on the side in question. So far, the pulsation sound on that side is gone. I think the culprit was a failing caliper; which may have warped the Centric rotors. I will update again if the problem persists. Thanks for all contributing to this...

ROTORS: AC Delco Gold / Professional vs Napa Premium

Maybe. What makes you think so? Instead of fluid being compromised at operating temps from needing replacement, a hose collapsing in on itself? We bled all 4 brakes no problem, so I didn’t think any line had trouble and rather it was some other issue at the pad/caliper level. Inconsistent...

ROTORS: AC Delco Gold / Professional vs Napa Premium

So...um, other that having to go back and re-do my work on this recent job (still having driver-side pulsation after it heats up)... Turns out the Raybestos Element3 I got for $16 pre-shipping from RA...have identical pictures to the Napa Ultra Rotors...listed at $75 on their website...

ROTORS: AC Delco Gold / Professional vs Napa Premium

Yes, for the compression bleeder was opened. Cleaned new rotors with brake cleaner. Cleaned hub with wire brush and wire wheel prior to installing. Cleaned and re-used pins and boots; as that appeared just in need of cleaning. Never heard of replacing them. It’s Georgia not the rust belt; if...

ROTORS: AC Delco Gold / Professional vs Napa Premium

Update: I swapped in new pads and rotors last night. Also, completely bled all 4 wheels. Passenger side looked fine. Plenty of pad life etc. guide pins were okay but we cleaned them up and re-applied fresh silicone paste, etc. Driver side showed 1 of the guide pins as in need of addressing...

ROTORS: AC Delco Gold / Professional vs Napa Premium

Thanks! I’ll check for rust on the caliper as well. Could very well have been installation error by way of oversight in these areas. I’ll confirm pad wear during job. Appreciate all of the input.

ROTORS: AC Delco Gold / Professional vs Napa Premium

If I can confirm one pad wore and it was a lubricant failure I will update and put respect back on Centric. I had a mechanic coworker explain; which I’m not sure I recall inner vs outer pad wearing more...but that one would mean a caliper issue and the other a pin issue...unless that’s overly...

ROTORS: AC Delco Gold / Professional vs Napa Premium

That’s very true. I sorta realized after my post that the compositions could be all over the place and the terms are “dumbed down” as a sales pitch. 😅 From the “description” and quality of Akebono/their reputation overall; they seem like they won’t bite any harder than the E3 pads, but that’s...

ROTORS: AC Delco Gold / Professional vs Napa Premium

@Trav apparently @Sayjac ran a setup of the ProAct Akebono pads I’m getting with the E3 (formerly RPT) rotors. Post in thread 'Raybestos Pads and Rotors?' https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/raybestos-pads-and-rotors.293752/post-5306853

ROTORS: AC Delco Gold / Professional vs Napa Premium

@Trav thanks for expounding on that and sharing your experience. I’m certainly weighing your input as well. Supposedly, Akebono made the OE pads on this 07 Fit. However, the Pro Act may be a slightly different item and overall composition from my research. That said, don’t most ceramic pads...

ROTORS: AC Delco Gold / Professional vs Napa Premium

Since I’m now looking primarily at Raybestos themselves, and looking into the Element 3... they offer several options with the PN 96087. It appears the E3s have “FZN” on the ending. I suppose “frozen?” 🤷‍♂️🤣 I live in Atlanta GA and sometimes get road salts. It is definitely a humid environment...

ROTORS: AC Delco Gold / Professional vs Napa Premium

Well, I already got the Akebono pads ordered. Probably should’ve made this thread first! 😅 Thanks for the recommendation. Now to look for E3 rotors?

ROTORS: AC Delco Gold / Professional vs Napa Premium

@slacktide_bitog Since you mentioned PowerStop & Wagner; are they on par with Raybestos? Really just wanting to avoid the Centric warping with a rotor that can last; considering use of Akebono pads and avoiding re-doing the job. Napa Ultra Premium may be out of my price range even though it...

ROTORS: AC Delco Gold / Professional vs Napa Premium

Thanks! I believe you on the Raybestos = AC Delco Gold/Professional line. I just compared the pictures on RA listings... for Raybestos “street” performance to the AC Delco in question and they are identical!! Lol 😂

ROTORS: AC Delco Gold / Professional vs Napa Premium

So, I cheapened out on the previous brake service (fronts only) for an 07 Honda Fit Sport. In summer of 2019, I bought Centric brand Premium Rotors and Pads. The rotors warped within a couple months nearly and now it’s about 25k miles in with the pads already at the wear indicators. Prior to...

    Troubleshooting P0171 Honda Fit

Update: New Denso upstream AFR sensor fixed the problem. I was able to swap sensors with a relative that has the same vehicle and the problem went away completely on a test drive. So, in my case the data that shows a clearly rich downstream condition yet there is supposedly a very lean reading...

    Troubleshooting P0171 Honda Fit

But if the trims are negative, that’s a rich condition, no? and, yes, this sort of code is either weak fuel delivery or unmetered air causing an apparent lack of fuel.. I will have to double check for vacuum leaks but again I would think if it was this obvious at 70 MPH then why would a vacuum...

    Troubleshooting P0171 Honda Fit

Wouldn’t a vacuum leak happen more so at idle rather than at speed? Unless, of course, it’s on the exhaust side throwing the 02 off... I saved the freezeframe data of the event:

    Troubleshooting P0171 Honda Fit

The picture is taken in this particular instance after coming to a stop before the numbers went back to normal. Usually, this set of data does not show up at idle and only at speed. I guess the mechanic did not see any codes and figured it was OK? I mean, I do suspect now that the sensor was...
