2006 Tacoma V6, Mobil 1 0W-40, 11,866 miles

This oil was used over the summer and fall in the heat in South and West Texas. Fairly heavy towing most weeks as well. Looks to me like the oil did great. Glad to know my engine is doing well also. Using an OEM oil and air filter. <a...

Use of Delvac 1300 15w-40 in aircooled VW

I'll bet it would work great. I had a 70 Beetle back in high school and I used a 40 weight mono grade. It ran well but I had to rebuild the top end a couple of times. Since you need to change the oil so frequently on those due to the lack of oil filter, I would buy all I could afford while it's...

    Tacoma oil change

I have an 06 Tacoma as well. Toyota says that the ATF should be changed out at 60,000 miles if towing. If not, the fluid is supposed to be good for the life of the transmission. Your transmission calls for Toyota WS ATF. You can get it at your dealer. If you use another fluid, make sure it says...

Which of these filters should I buy.

This is a pretty good teardown comparison between OEM Toyota filters and most other available brands with pics and video. <a href="https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/toyota-oil-filter-made-in-thailand-vs-the-competition.123608/"...

    SuperTech Synthetic 5-30w, 10k, Toyota FJ 4.0L

That was interesting. Thanks for posting. I have the same 1GR-FE engine as you and was wondering how SuperTech Synthetic would do. I also use 10,000 mile OCI because it's easy to just reset the oil change light once at 5000 and change it the next time around. Looks like you got every bit of use...

First oil change on a new Tacoma

My 06 Tacoma has the same engine as yours. It now has just over 200,000 miles and dosen't burn a drop of oil (I know, it irritates one or two on here to hear that. I'm sure you will get over it.) I drove it pretty hard in the first few miles and didn't change it till 5000 miles. Everything...

    making a vehicle last 40 years/million miles??

Man, that's a lot of driving. My truck might be able to make it that many miles, but my body would never make it. Someone's earlier comment comparing it to being married is ,I think, spot on. You would need a deep, emotional attachment to the vehicle, just like what it takes to make a marriage work.

    OBD II bluetooth/android

I have this one. http://www.amazon.com/LAUNCH-301180099-Easy-Diag-Android/dp/B00MFR74O6 I love it. It works very well on my Samsung. It can read and clear codes including SRS and ABS codes. You...

    2015 Tacoma one week review

One weak spot on these trucks is the frame tends to rust quickly. Be sure to rinse the salt off the underside frequently and touch up any spots forming right away. The worst spot is on the drivers side right next to the cat. That is where it usually starts. Other than that, those things are rock...

    $1000 beater car needed

If you run across a 1988 to 2000 Ford Contour, and you can get one for that price, RUN! My son bought one with good maintenance records. Unreliable and a PITA to work on.

Spin on transmission filter and ATF temps

I have installed a spin on filter base that takes a PH8A filter and all is good so far. My concern is that I don't want to restrict flow to the transmission cooler during heavy towing in the heat. I'm thinking of installing a manual three way valve to bypass the filter during hot and heavy...

    Cleaning synthetic oil

Not sure if it means that much to you, but for my wife's BMW Z3, I look for an oil that meets the BMW LL-01 spec. There are several that are readily available.

PAO vs Esters in an MTF....

I read somewhere that because of the polarity of the ester molecules, that they can compete with the more effective anti-wear additives at the metal surface if the ester is in too high of concentration. I don't know that for a fact however.
