Risks of introducing rattles and squeaks with dashboard replacement?

This will be performed by a dealer, for the record. No way am I tackling something like this myself. Even if I have to give the tech an extra $100 to pad his hours and ensure he takes his time, I'd rather they do it.

Is it necessary to pull door panels to install window tint?

Generally speaking, no. Some vehicles might require it due to weird design choices in the window gaskets or even the shape of the glass. You can certainly ask the installer if they will be doing it, and also ask them if they have ever tinted your specific car before. Like clear bra, every car...

Risks of introducing rattles and squeaks with dashboard replacement?

Agree, but the more parts you have to remove, the higher the risk. An instrument cluster isn't too bad, but the entire dashboard has multiple vents, speakers, HVAC controls, stereo controls + display, etc.

Harvest King 10w30 Synthetic blend high mileage now SP

I do, but my point is that very few cars even call for it and modern 5w30s will easily work in a 10w30 application.

Risks of introducing rattles and squeaks with dashboard replacement?

Without going into too many details now, I was wondering what the consensus is on the risks of replacing a dashboard in a modern car -- namely are you risking introduction of problems like rattles and squeaks. Anecdotal evidence always seems to scream "you'll get lots of rattles!" but it's hard...

Harvest King 10w30 Synthetic blend high mileage now SP

I am shocked that 10w30s are still available, let alone getting updates to API SP.

Nissan XOM full synthetic 0w20 for VK56

Decided to just go with Mobil 1 EP 0w20. Priced about the same as the Nissan stuff and probably a bit more robust. Thanks for all of the tips, folks. For those wondering, the manual is pretty vague and just says to use 0w20 SN. My 500 mile break-in oil is en route to Blackstone as we speak.

Nissan XOM full synthetic 0w20 for VK56

Good to know, I wasn't aware they had a new oil. Looks like I need to do some digging before my 1000 mile break-in change.

Nissan XOM full synthetic 0w20 for VK56

The Red Line Professional Series 0w20 could work. API SN+, ILSAC GF-5 and HTHSV of 2.7, but I'm skeptical it's going to be considerably different than the OEM stuff. It is more of a group 3/4 oil instead of the non-API version. 5w30 or 0w30 is worth considering yeah.

Nissan XOM full synthetic 0w20 for VK56

I am just a bit skeptical of resource-conserving oils in vehicles like this, especially if I plan to tow 6000 pounds on a hot Texas day. We all know that the OEMs play games with thinner oils to hit CAFE targets.

Nissan XOM full synthetic 0w20 for VK56

I bought my first-ever truck today, a 2021 Nissan Titan Pro-4X. Fully loaded and at a great price with the end-of-year deals and haggling. It's got the trusty VK56VD in it and the manual calls for 0w20 every 5k. This motor was revised for 2017 where they made it direct injection and bumped the...

    2017 Corvette / Motul 300V 0w40 / 6.8k miles

Toyo Proxes RR, moving to Hoosier R7 soon. I have the Schroth Profi-II ASM harness on a Brey-Krause harness bar.

    2017 Corvette / Motul 300V 0w40 / 6.8k miles

I used the ESP Formula 0w40, yes. It became factory fill on all Corvettes in 2019 and was backspec'd for previous cars.

    2017 Corvette / Motul 300V 0w40 / 6.8k miles

Would disagree, the aluminum dropped a healthy amount and we saw it hold viscosity better. TBN retention was better too. Yes, track time was about the same. The M1 Formula ESP is about $11/qt versus Motul at $17. It is definitely diminishing returns, I agree on that.

    2017 Corvette / Motul 300V 0w40 / 6.8k miles

Gratuitous track footage from Eagles Canyon Raceway earlier this month. Apologies for the weird interruption, but that Lizard Green 911 GT3 RS blew a tire and had to be flat-bedded off the track. We sat in the pits for about 15 minutes during the extraction.

    2017 Corvette / Motul 300V 0w40 / 6.8k miles

First full interval on the glorious Motul 300V 0w40 "Trophy". I switched to this stuff after seeing too many UOAs of the M1 Formula ESP 0w40 come back out of grade. It had worked well in my other cars so figured it was worth a shot. Roughly the same number of miles as the previous OCI, and...

    Clutch fluid UOAs?

Is there any value in having clutch fluid (Super DOT 4) analyzed via UOA? It is not a shared sump with the brakes, but rather, a dedicated system.

Need a sensible but fun daily

Minor rant here, but what is with dealers around here loading up their cars with lots of BS add-ons? The Honda dealer across the highway from where I live has tints, wheel locks, splash guards, rubber mats, and PAINTED pin stripes on EVERY SINGLE ACCORD. And guess what, that adds over a grand to...
