    Dexos1 gen 2 in a 2026?

Maybe they should just pick an oil that is A40/229.5 certified and slap the dexos label on that, since it’s pretty clear they don’t know which step they need to take.

    Dexos1 gen 2 in a 2026?

I’m going to LoL when OP’s vehicle isn’t even a GM. Also, dexos use isn’t a requirement in GMs; they can recommend whatever they want. It’s a pay-per-quart licensing scheme disguised as some elevated standard, which it isn’t. These engines will live a long happy life on just about any modern...

Auto OEM's refuse to sell cars in California unless they’re allowed to track you

I had a FB account for about 3 days 15 years ago. It’s bad enough having to deal with people in person, let alone reading their crazy stream-of-consciousness crap that ends up there. Never even looked at it since.

Why is it NOT OK for 0w40 in GM 5.3 engine?

40wt is like 30wt ice cream that’s been out of the freezer for about 48 seconds less than the 30wt…

The American EV Has Been Crushed. Will It Take the US Auto Industry With It?

I haven’t ever seen a single BYD-sourced EV in my life, so maybe this data point isn’t valid. But the company I work for, which maintains a fleet of several hundred forklifts (until the past 3 years was solely Toyota propane-powered trucks), decided or was bought off with rebates to heavily...

My first GON-style post… what $575k buys in Winchester, Indiana…

it’s only 5 minutes from Winchester Speedway, if you’re into oval track stuff where every racer isn’t a multimillionaire.

From what I know, current owners have been there at least 20 years

My first GON-style post… what $575k buys in Winchester, Indiana…

Read back one more line. It was posted at $574,900 on one day, and same day (probably a Zillow fluke?) jumped to like $939k, then next day was back to $575k… To me, the big shock is it’s listed at $200k over Zestimate and sold pretty much the day it hit the market.

Yeah, which for this part of nowhere land, means it’s probably somebody who sold their farm to the solar company or Bill Gates

The Ford EcoBoost and 5k oil change intervals

Nobody’s saying you can’t have your own beliefs, just that people shouldn’t make blanket statements not supported by data. The last UOA I bothered posting on my 2019 3.5EB was pulled at 14,400 miles service life (5w30) and had <2ppm Fe/1k miles and a remaining TBN of 7.78 with dilution <1%, and...

Auto OEM's refuse to sell cars in California unless they’re allowed to track you

It’s waaaaaay more than “some” thing; it’s a majority of things.

27 doesn’t get “that” much traffic… as you said, it’s in the middle of nowhere. There’s also no speed limit changes or stop signs/lights within 5 miles, so no Jake brake idiots at 2am…

This house is immaculate, if a slightly weird double-house layout. Nearly 3700SF, 6 bed/4 baths, inground pool, pole barn, on 3 acres. Sold the day it hit the market. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/4622-N-Us-Highway-27-Winchester-IN-47394/85683904_zpid/

Recommendation - how often to perform used oil analysis of HPL No VII?

My tuned, E30, 500+rwhp 3.5 EcoBoost still had a TBN of nearly 7.8 at 14.4k miles, and was under 2ppm Fe per 1k miles. I’ve settled in on a 20k OCI and sample just to ensure no cautions need to be taken when the new OCI has begun. Dave’s recommendation is plenty safe with light-usage vehicles...
