The 160 may be the temp that the cooler thermostat opens at. That will provide flow throughout the entire system and 160 would be adequate to account for the slight fluid expansion when hot. Any check should be done above that (which you are already doing) Sounds like youve got it handled.

It struck me as being a what came first question, the debris or the bearing failure ? I think the main bearing configuration is the culprit, too much load on too little surface in a boosted engine. I dont think anyones going to get a straight answer.
