Oil Considerations For 2011 Frod Shelby GT-500

Ford says 5W-50 Synthetic. Suggestions for oil and filter along with frequency for change intervals that might get the maximum life out of a supercharged engine? I have heard that some engines with "blowers" cause a degree of gasoline "blowby" and it is significant enough to stay away from...

2010 Honda Accord V-6 Power Steering too "Numb"

Is it even remotely possible to change to a different Power Steering Fluid (or do anything) to reduce the level of power assist?

    Valvoline Maxlife

I switched over from Z-1 in My Accord and CRV and I am convinced it's a gret product. Some have commented it's "just Maxlife" but it looks like it can go toe to toe with other synthetics like Redline's and Amsoil's products as well based on it's properties. Am I wrong? (Oh, and it's $16 and...

O'Reiley's Fully Synthetic Memo Daed Aug 15,2011

I saw the memo today while shopping at O'Reiley's were Fully Synthetic Oils are made with synthetic base stocks from Mobil-Exxon. It's a Group III. It did not mention additives and it appeared the oil they buy is in bulk and they then have it formulated to ILSAC GF-5 Specs. at another facility...

LUCAS SYNTHETIC OIL ADDITIVE IN A HONDA V-6

1020 HONDA V-6'S HAVE A WAY OF ALLOWING OIL TO BLOW-BY AND IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM. GOING UP TO 5w-30 ODES NOT HELP. THINK THIS ADDITIVE MIGHT HELP SEAL THINGS UP? HONDA JUST DID THE VALVE GUIDES AT 20,000 miles and IT PASSES A BLOW BY TEST. GO FIGURE. I AM THINKING ABOUT CASTROL EDGE 5w-20 and...

2010 Honda Accord V-6 VCM Engine using Oil

I am running synthetic Penzoil Ultra and the vehicle has 14,000 miles on it. It was using about 2 quarts/5,000 miles. Honda updated the ECM and changed out 4 spark plugs that were fouled. The engine light led them to do this. Then back into the shop and Honda changed the 24 valve seals. It...

Best Tested Wear Numbers Over Time For a 5W-20 SYN

I am looking to see what's working in the "field" over time. You know...tried and true. Something that has won your trust and you will not likely switch away from. I am curious to see if a PAO GRP IV or an Ester Grp V. has advantages and if so do the numbers bear it out. Additionally, what...

Why GF-5 matters and does not matter

We all know a conventional/semi-synthetic and GRP III. synthetic/PAO and Ester synthetic can all bear the GF5- SN label. What does this mean? Now we have to do VOA's on all the new oils again...wait for in field UOA's to come in and re-evaluate our positions based on new data. Square one.

    2010 Honda Accord V-6

My one year old vehicle was routinely "using" one quart/2,000 miles from day one. It did this with factory fill and conventional as well. I tried Penzoil Platinum and the same. Recently I decided to give Royal Purple 5W-20 a go ( i noted it is an SL oil and I liked the boost in additives)...

    Hoppe's #9 solvent and lube

I am finding that Hoppe's #9 oil (clear oil in small bottle with needle like applicator) causes the least amount of gumming on stainless than anything used to date. Anyone else ever use this?

    Honda Accord V-6 2010

About 5800 miles on factory oil and ocm is at 40%. Oil is getting dark brown...manual says to break in cam to end of ocm... Trying to develop a comfort level running a conventional oil out this far..it's a lease car..but still.. Go by the ocm?

    If only one oil existed....

GC 0W-30 would be able to handle anything and everything and we have data to support this? I think it's a case we can't ignore. Anything from a 4 cylinder to a Corvette ZR-1 to a Ferrari Enzo...it would be the "no brainier" can't loose choice hands down. One size fits all...

New 2010 Honda Accord V-6 Uses Oil.

Still has factory fill in there as Honda suggests breaking in until OCM indicates a change for proper cam break-in. (i-Vtec/VCM...3/4/6 cylinder staging) 5,000 miles/50% on OCM Has used a quart so far and oil "looks" pretty decent and I just check on gas fill up and top off. Sound about right?

Who had their "Kodachrome" taken away?

I do have a Nikon camera...and I like to take photographs...and they did take my Kodachrome away...as well as the processing pretty much....and though I have a real good digital pro camera...Kodachrome being gone left a big gap! Now in the word of lubricants...I find this has happened to me as...

    Compressor stopped working

As usual it blew a circuit breaker..but this time it only worked a few seconds in a labored manner....maybe driven by air back pressure? Then nothing...has been lightly used. Craftsman 120 V 5 HP Oil less "big tank" any thoughts?

    Credit Bureaus

My credit rating with Trans Union is (for the moment due to reporting errors poor). The other two credit bureaus show a very good - excellent rating.
