Does it really make financial sense to buy used over new?

Yeah, prices keep increasing. We got our 23 Sienna XLE cert used w/15K miles for $45K which was significantly higher than our previous van brand new. That said in my area a Tahoe LT is $65-70K so I’ll take the van even at an inflated cost.

People with high mileage vehicles who run supertech full synthetic oil

I was this guy for the longest except mine was QS or VL. Always Fram. Didn’t know any better and really didn’t care to. To be honest I didn’t even know about Supertech until I came here. Never really looked around just grab my stuff and went on my way.

Does it really make financial sense to buy used over new?

My wife and I prefer newer vehicles. We are higher mileage drivers so they tend to hold up pretty well. New or certified used has worked out for us. We spend a lot of time behind the wheel so we enjoy the creature comforts and new tech. Live well within our means and can afford it. Daughter’s...

2025 Toyota Rav4 personal engine oil struggle.

Partially accurate. 1 - injection in port, 2 - injection in cylinder + port, 3 - injection in cylinder Also the A25A does have known issue with dilution maybe not in all cases or as bad as Honda but it definitely happens. Check out the UOA sub, there are post about it. Here’s one to start...

    Bitcoin Miners

I know a few business savvy folks who dabble in cryptocurrency mining, and it is a cash on the barrelhead kinda of business because more then a few companies go under and default on their bills. One person told me it’s because the power consumption cost is way more than the uneducated expect -...

Buy a meal at a fast food pay for tap water

Highly probable. It reminds me of years ago when my mother would let neighbors come by and take fruits from the trees in the backyard. We couldn’t eat them all by ourselves, so my mom would allow the neighbors to fill up one grocery sack each. Before too long people started bringing multiple...

Buy a meal at a fast food pay for tap water

How much does it cost to let someone use the bathroom? Some businesses only allow paying customers to use the facilities cause it’s a business out to make money. It’s the same in my mind. It would be kind to give away these things for free but to say it’s “free” is incorrect. The business pays...

    One Oil for Three Vehicles

At one yr/less than 5K miles a lot of options open up assuming normal conditions. I’d be fine with any off the shelf name or store brand 5w-30 full synthetic I could find on sale.

Spark Plug Replacement Intervals - Why?

I had the ceramic insulator on an old set of plugs get brittle and crack from age/heat once. On one of them a piece broke off and almost fell into the engine during removal. I caught it. But man that would been a nightmare to deal with. I don’t run plugs out after that experience; before or at...

Would you buy a “New Car” that is 15 months old?

Discounted, heck yeah. New truck price, negative. Might as well get a newer, new truck at full price. As long as everything checks out I’d be good. I’d change the oil myself when I got it home just in case it’s been severely short tripped the entire time which it almost certainly has.

Boldest thing you've seen with someone else's property?

My drug addict cousins took money and property for our elderly grandmother with dementia prior to getting a POA set up. Also used her car and beat the crap out of it. Needless to say I don’t associate with the trash anymore or that side of the family actually.
