    Mobil1 ESP question

Long story short, it exceeds API requirements, but Mobil doesn’t waste the money buying a license because domestic & non-Euro cars aren’t the target market. Great general purpose oil that will perform superbly in just about anything. I use it in our Odyssey and in my Elantra N. My Tacoma...

    Backing into parking spaces

This, and it’s also safer to pull forwards out of a parking space, rather than reversing.

    Post your frankenblend/s

Our Odyssey currently has 3.7 qts of M1 ESP 5W-30 and 2 quarts of 0W-30. Only because WM was out of the 0W, so I bought a jug of the 5W, and had 2 qts of 0W left over at the house.

PUP's fall from grace over the last 10 years?

    Don’t forget there’s a $30 rebate when you buy 2 jugs currently.

PUP's fall from grace over the last 10 years?

Back in 2016-2019 era I ran Pennzoil Platinum 10W-30 in my 2016 WRX, primarily, because it was 4.7% Noack.

IDK about that; you could say that about almost any engine today, couldn’t you? What about it makes it uniquely tolerant of 20 grade?

Oil take that comes full circle - Edge 0W-30!

When I started hanging around the site, all the talk was about the “Caterham Blend” - half TGMO 0W-20 and half M1 FS 0W-40. What ever happened to Caterham?

Welcome! The J35 is a good engine. We have one in our 2024 Odyssey. You might want to reconsider that mileage on an oil change - these are GDI engines and like to dilute the oil with fuel and contaminate it with soot. I do 5000 mile OCIs in ours for that reason, regardless of the...

Good help is hard to find - forgotten seal…

I’ve wanted to do this with my truck. I’ve never washed under the hood. But I always figured introducing water could do more harm than good. Same with my zero turn mower - I don’t wash it - I just blow off with my leaf blower. I suppose if I put a ziploc or the like over the alternator and...

Do you have any idea what the reasoning was behind the non-detergent oil recommendation for the tractor?

Man that volcano is unbelievable. The power it takes to spew lava 1000’ into the air is incomprehensible to me!

Was Your Dad or Granddad a Believer in Non-Detergent Motor Oil?

The current thread on 1990s motor oils got me thinking about times past. My dad's father, who I called Papa, was a member of the Greatest Generation. Born in 1919 in Haleyville, Alabama, he started his work life at a car dealership or body shop doing collision repair in the mid-1930s, got...

    Mobil 1 Truck and SUV

You have to understand that it’s marketing gamesmanship on the part of ExxonMobil. A lot of people will be drawn in by that catchy name. But like others have said, it has actually been tested to live up to at least some of the advertising. I believe it’s a bit thicker with a bit higher...

    Parenting concerns

I was blunt because it seems pretty obvious - As the head of the household, it’s your job to, as someone else said, set boundaries. Try appealing to his sense of responsibility and chivalry (what most 13 year old boys want most is to be considered to be grown). Remind him how much bigger and...

M1 Volatility - multiple vis products

And I’d bet, the Walmarts that still have it aren’t going to have it any longer, once the existing inventory runs out. That’s unfortunate, because it’s obviously a fine oil that carries excellent approvals, at a decent price (what did it sell for again?). But M1 Euro FS is $25 per jug...
