4 Stroke Lawn Mower Oil Additives

Change the oil in a homeowner-grade lawn mower? I'd use the 10w30 that was on my shelf, whatever it happened to be. In this case, that Zrod is probably as good as any and better than most.

    Gin: which do you like?

Hendrick's is fantastic. I am curious to try some of the barrel aged gins that are out there, too.

    wife and I rode Harleys...

They make very nice touring bikes, maybe a little dynamically challenged, but that is why there are BMWs. I can't speak to their other lines.

Army Unable to Select Replacement Pistol

Anyone seen "The Pentagon Wars"? This movie is about the development of the Bradley Fighting Vehicle. I assume that most D.O.D procurement goes along those lines. General Milley's comments in the linked article were great. At least someone in D.C. seems to "get it".

    New Hvac Install

I'm about as foul mouthed as anyone you're likely to find, but that is with a chosen audience in a chosen setting. You just can't speak to strangers that way, particularly in their home. May be cool of you to offer a bit of insight/advice to the owner concerning his guys' customer interraction...

Yellow dot and valve stem alignment

This is definitely nothing to catastrophize or get heated over. If it is balanced, it is balanced (the tire/wheel assembly). Life is too short to subject your body to excess cortisol and blood pressure when there is no real threat to you or your property. I recommend some deliberate breathing...

    Conventional by OLM?

DEXOS wasn't a thing back in '08, tons of conventional oils met the GM spec of the day. I wouldn't bat an eye. I have used synthetic oil in my '08 GM V8 since it was new, but comparing my UOAs to OLM life remaining results indicates that it would likely be fine with a top shelf conventional like...

UOA: 2011 Mazda2 OEM filter vs K&N SRI

I like this thread, thanks for sharing. I also think that this is a good example of the application dependent nature of the benefits or lack thereof, in a modified air cleaner setup. Always amused by the knee jerk hand wringing that comes about whenever K&N or similar comes up in discussion.

VOA Joe Gibbs DRIVEN DT50 15W50

Thanks for sharing! I wonder if there is any difference between this oil and the HD50 "for air cooled motorcycles"? This DT50 certainly appears to be fine for a wet clutch application. The local VP dealer carries this brand, and I thought about the HD50 for one of my motorcycles. They do seem...

Selling used equipment and nasty/agressive buyers

I don't call on ads where I presume the seller to be delusional about the value of the item that they are selling, rather than contact them and offer what the value of said item is to me. It's their stuff, after all.

Why Premium Gas in GM Ecotec 2.4L

The octane requirements are just as much based on the calibration as the hardware. If the manufacturer recommends 91 or higher, the "tune" is likely optimized for 91 or higher.
