Mobil 1 Full-Synthetic: Full synthetic or not?

The truth came out from Mobile themselves and was best covered by a posting 8/19/10 from buster; Mobile1 - PAO & Visom Bottom line they needed to get costs down to continue to compete with all the other major brands. Mobile and others now have a range of "syn" oils, basically you get what you...

Oil known for its effective cleaning ability?

This engine may have some sludge if it was poorly maintained. You may want to be careful with a strong cleaning oil, watch the oil and be ready to change it on a shorter OCI. Alternative could be to blend a syn and work your way up to full strength one qt at a time. I would suggest PU, should...

    Synthetic oil snafus

I remember 4 mo or 4k OCI changes, in the 80's. It makes perfect sense Toyota and Honda have eschewed turbos. I suspect DI is similar, that it will be long term problematic.

    1998 Accord

I like to track my vehicle mileage to recognize if a fuel consumption issue arises. It doesn't take much (notepad, odometer reading, gallons added, and notation if its not a fillup; optional date and if cleaner is added), though its a routine you and family members need to follow. It would be...

Fuel system cleaner for new car.

Will a strong FSC like PEA act to clean the carbon from the oil control rings? BTW a have a GM ShortStar that developed oil the oil comsumption issue and have not yet been able to solve it with other carbon cleaning methods. I wonder if FSC with PEA detegents with make it into the piston rings.

Is Gumout 2x concentrated 100% PEA?

I found the MSDS for the Gumout Large Vehicle Fuel Injector Cleaner 161104, <10% detergent. The MSDS is under the name Gumout XL Fuel Injector Cleaner and there are apparently three Gumout products all the same. I have to return what I purchased and buy one with a MSDS listing known amount of...

Is Gumout 2x concentrated 100% PEA?

I found a Gumout All-In-One MSDS match for the number left top of the UPC (5050472). The number is listed on the MSDS under Synonyms below Product Name. Now to see if I can find 161104.

Is Gumout 2x concentrated 100% PEA?

Yes I found another reference that the FIC is not the same as FSC. I will have to check the shelves at Big Lots again to see if the $4 products were all FSC. Strange that none of the MSDS data bases I checked have the Large Vehicle Concentrated FIC. I would think there would be a product id on...

Is Gumout 2x concentrated 100% PEA?

The MSDS 2004 for Gumout Regane Complete Fuel System Cleaner by SOPUS shows 30-40% PEA. Big Lots prices Regane Complete FSC $3/(12oz*35%) = .71 per PEA oz. Large Vehicle Concentrated FIC $2.5/(20oz*35%)= .36 per PEA oz. All-In-One Complete FSC & Anti-Wear $4/(20oz*50%)= .4 per additive oz (may...

Is Gumout 2x concentrated 100% PEA?

If I found the correct MSDS it lists Large Vehicle as 30-40% PEA, All-in-one is 40-60% fuel additive which probably includes other than PEA, bet the PEA is 30-40%.

Is Gumout 2x concentrated 100% PEA?

Great summary. The BigLots by me has the following Gumout products, all say use every 3000 miles; All In One 20oz $4 Large Vehicle Concentrated Fuel Injector Cleaner 20oz $2.50 Diesel Concentrated 20oz $2 Regine Complete 12oz, $3 From the labels it seems the FIC likely does not have the...

Is it true or not...M1 changed it's formula

After M1 lost the lawsuit with Castrol, they moved to their Tri-Syn, first step away from 100% syn. Lately they dropped the 15k OCI of std M1. Now a 5k OCI M1. Clearly they are changing their product to compete cost wise with the other cheaper syn's on store shelves. Due to higher API standards...

    mixing a synthetic with a dino ?

I mix 1Q RL with dino oil (G2 or G3) to get the benefits of POE's. I had used M1 on two vehicles purchased new and after 67k miles one, 90k other, started the RL blend. This oil change appeared to have dramtically cleaned the engines. Other than than M1 EP for longer OCI, the syn's aren't worth...
