    FRAM XG4967 C&P ~18,000 kms

Yup bottom mounted, still not the lowest point of clearance. Back in went some Castrol Edge Extended 5w30.

    FRAM XG4967 C&P ~18,000 kms

Here is the filter off my 2001 Toyota Echo. It was 3 short OCI's over the course of the year, I just kept using the same filter. Upsizing to the XG3600, about 3 times the size I'll try to do 3 or 4 8,000km OCI's on it.

2017 Ford Escape Air Filter - 30,800 kms

Replaced the air filter on my friends 2017 Ford Escape, I believe the 1.5L. Pulled off the original factory air filter, and put on a Fram CA11114. Doesn't look horrible for 30k and 2 years.

Which conventional oil do you use and why?

I typically use synthetic as I can get it as low as $18 CAD per 5L jug with rebates. I picked up 3 5L jugs of VWB conventional at $12 CAD. I will run it in my 2001 Echo without worry.

UOA: Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W-40 (LL-01) in a tuned BMW N54

Nothing wrong with that, I have some of that to put in my STI at some point. What were the other oils on the report? They had boat loads of moly.

One more bite at the 5w20 v. 5w30 debate:

Go easy on me, I'm still learning. Do viscosity improvers really take up that much space? With some comments saying less VI's means more room for real oil. Do we know how much VI's there are in say a 5w20 vs a 0w40 within the same brand? Like 50ml/liter vs 100ml/liter? The various grades of oil...

    Fram Ultra or Extra Guard?

Not sure if this is a troll post or not. If I google Fram Ultra I get 7,290,000 search results and the first link to Fram.com shows the three main lines of filters with plenty of info. Tough Guard is typically good for up to 10,000 miles and Ultra is typically good for up to 20,000 miles. The...

Liquid moly MoS2 a good add for my Hemi engine?

I've only had it since 210,000 kms. Unknown service history prior to that. I've thrown a little bit of everything in it since I had it. Not currently using MOS2, it doesnt seem to care what is in it and gets pretty bulletproof UOAs (Link). For an 18 year old beater car I didn't think it was...

    Canadian gas. My test.

Nice to see, I have run Petro Ultra 94 exclusively for years in my STI.

Liquid moly MoS2 a good add for my Hemi engine?

Here are some pics of my pan drop on my 2001 Toyota Echo with 250,000 kms. I ran about 2 bottles of MOS2 through it over 4 OCI's (6,000 - 8,000kms each) of daily driving (would sit for a week or two on vacations only). What I wiped up was kind of like a layer of black sludge. Then that little...

    Silicone Ceramic Brake Lubricant

I picked it up and smeared some on the shims and the notches at the ends that you slide into the calipers. No complaints, but kind of expensive.

    Transmission Cooler Observation

Still playing with the Toyota Echo, I installed a Trucool LPD 4544 transmission cooler last week. Currently bypassing the radiator. This car has a dummy light for when the engine is warm (160 degrees coolant temp and the light turns off and 4th gear overdrive is available). Since the install I...
