Knock While Cruising, None While In Boost

Yeah I'm not sure the differences for monitoring your engine. I was always told if the DAM ever drops below 1.0, get rid of that gas. I thought Mobil was top tier, but it still could be a bad tank. Typically when I see the knock learn it is at a pretty specific RPM, I don't always notice but...

Knock While Cruising, None While In Boost

Almost seems like bad gas. I've never seem my DAM drop below 1.0, ever. Have you noticed less than 1.0 before? Did you use a different station than normal or a non top-tier station?

    Fram TG3387A 10,000kms Cut Open

Okay thanks, I was thinking of seeing if I have room for an oversize filter, XG3600 came to mind with 12 psi bypass.

Would there be any adverse effect to running an oil filter with a bypass on an engine that has an internal bypass? Does anyone know if GM publishes the internal bypass PSI spec for their engines? I'm not able to find anything.

Yeah that's what I'm used to seeing ^^ I cant find any information stating that the bypass is in the engine, but all sites are showing these as the correct filter with no bypass. Engine is the LX9 3500 V6 if I recall.

    Fram TG3387A 10,000kms Cut Open

10,000 kms on a 2007 Buick Rendezvous with PP 0W30. Replaced with a Mobil1 filter and Valvoline Syn 5w30. This is the first OCI I've done since acquiring the vehicle, 106k kms on the vehicle. First time cutting open a Tough Gaurd, most filters have a spring attached to the metal peice for...

    Subaru 5w30 / 1226 Miles / 2019 Subaru WRX STI

Hah I suppose by definition. Just doesnt seem fitting for "high speed" applications.

IIRC a lot of the ringland failures are attributed to high load / low rpm scenarios (WOT in too high of a gear at too low RPMs). Not nessicarily low speed preignition just insane pressure build up. A lot of times it was flooring it in 6th gear to pass on the highway without realizing (paying...

All the samples are similar intervals (annual oil changes) and other additives were used in in the past (note the moly in the rotella).

This is the third analysis on this car. Things are looking up! First oil was Motul Xcess 5w40, second was Rotella T6 5w40, this report is Mobil1 Euro 0w40 (with 5 oz of Hyperlube Zinc Replacement), filled it with GC 0w40 (with the rest of the Hyperlube ~7oz). Remaining in my stash I have one...

    IFJF (Chinese Magnefine)

Yeah the cost isn't huge over the course of time. I just wish there were options out there. I can get the best oil filter on the planet for ~$10 (Fram Ultra). Why does an average filter/magnet cost $37.50? Just because no one else makes an inline transmission fluid filter. Why pay more than you...

    IFJF (Chinese Magnefine)

I currently run a Magnefine filter on my Echo and Rendezvous. In Canada the only price I can get them at is $37.50 CAD on amazon.ca. I did find some Chinese replicas on ebay.ca for ~$16 CAD. Here are some side by side pics, they are nearly identical. The proof is in the pudding though, I will...

Kind of getting boring, I've posted one of these 3 years running at my annual oil change. Low kms and nothing to report. Out came Mobil1 0w40 Euro and in went Castrol 0w40 Euro with another Subaru filter. Now that I have used up all my Subaru filters I may try a XG7317 next time. I will send the...
