There i'snt really any clearance issues, lots of room under the skid plate. I'll look into the Mazda, Baldwin, Wix and S2000 filters... Thanks for the input.

Congrats, I kept my FF in for 1,000 kms before changing the oil back in 2010. Then did one or two changes on conventional before switching to synthetic... still purring along after 7 years.

Thanks I've been looking for alternatives to the OEM Subaru filter. From what I found what makes it different is the bypass valve pressure is set to 23psi (+/- 3psi allowance) whereas IIRC most off the shelf filters are in the 10-18psi range. I haven't been able to find much information on that...
