New T6 bottles missing API SM?

The most recent VOA of Rotella T6 CK-4 5w40 showed a Phosphorus level of 1024 Other VOA's GC 0w40 showed 774 and Castrol GTX 5w30 at 785, they come in just under the limit. Are those extra 250ppm of Phosphorus going to make a huge difference to the cat? Is there anything else in the Rotella...

Any trade-offs Using Rotella T in a Gas Engine?

Saw a couple VOAs in the VOA section, I have a couple questions... VOA of Rotella T6 CK-4 5w40 showed Phosphorus of 1024 VOA of GC 0w40 showed Phosphorus of 774 Difference of about 250ppm, is that amount going to make a huge difference to a catalytic converter? Phosphorus aside is there...

Canister vs. Cartridge oil change: should the oil

Yes, very obviously placed in the pleats. To give an idea what to look for, but I doubt you'll ever see anything that large or concentrated on the filter. I want that filter cutter though!

    Motul Xcess 8100 5w40, 5437km OCI, 2010 STI

First UOA on this vehicle, oil looks fine but iron levels. Any tips on things to look into? No longer my daily driver, will probably only see a couple thousand kms/year here on out. No track/racing but some spirited driving and WOT here and there. The first 50,000kms were short city trips and...

    Lug nut torque pranoia

I'm probably overthinking things as usual. I did some work on my beater car this week (2001 toyota echo) then rotated the tires and when I reinstalled them I had a chance to try out my brand new torque wrench. I previously used a shorter 3/8" torque wrench that had a lot of years of abuse and...

Thin oil for better winter performance

The Canadian 2001 Toyota Echo I bought last year does not have a block heater either. I have been debating getting a oil pan heater to at least have the oil a few degrees warmer in those -30 degree celcius starts. Just not sure if I want to dump $100 into my beater which hasn't shown any...

Maybe just try to coincide your oil change so it hits the halfway mark in mileage. 2 OCI at 1500 with 2 months of sitting on each fill.

    Subaru OEM filter 5,437km (13 Months) C&P

Thanks I've been looking for alternatives to the OEM Subaru filter. From what I found what makes it different is the bypass valve pressure is set to 23psi (+/- 3psi allowance) whereas IIRC most off the shelf filters are in the 10-18psi range. I haven't been able to find much information on that...
