Hello folks, Audi A4 Quattro oil change

IF it was designed to "break off when removed" it would break. Mine doesn't in 7 1/2 years. Btw, beware of cheap Amazon/Chinese drain plugs (and O-rings).

Hello folks, Audi A4 Quattro oil change

How 'often'? When did it break? During removing or screwing in? Let's assume that it doesn't break during trips. I use a magnetic plug and only replace the O-ring every 2nd time. Elring (OEM) sell them in sachets. No issues so far. My very 'special' tool? A plastic coin (trolley token...

    BMW Oil Temperature Question

. No R55/R56/R57/R58/R59 Mini (Gen 2, N12 - N18 engines) came with an oil temp sensor from factory (and no oil level sensor). There's just a coolant temp sensor. So yes of course, the oil temp (displayed via hidden/secret menu or OBD derived aftermarket gear) is calculated from coolant temp...

Who’s making the best 5w30 these days?

Nathan, ten years after joining this forum you actually ask for "the best 5W-30"? Really? .

    Hot tire pressure

For a reason. The pressures when hot vary widely depending on several circumstances. To watch pressures when hot would unambiguously overwhelm the average driver by far. It's clearly smarter to suggest only check and set tire pressures when cold. Perhaps you're not alone, but you're clearly...

    Raybestos brake pads failed

. That's not how it works. Developement starts with a more balanced mechanical and hydraulic distribution today, much more balanced, closer to 50:50 (or say 60:40 to 70:30 to stay real) compared to yesterdays (maybe 80:20 to 90:10). Now, while the increased braking on rear helps to prevent...

    Raybestos brake pads failed

Maybe, it highly depends on their particular application. I personally swapped from GG rated pads (Ferodo Premier Eco) to FF rated OE BMW/Mini pads (manufactured by Galfer) on front (while I kept the GG rated Ferodos on rear). With the Ferodos I missed the stiff/hard pedal feel I loved with...

Got new pads.. GG in rear FF in front?

. Don't worry, hardly an issue, if at all. I run FF rated pads on front and GG pads on rear with my FWD Cooper (37 % weight on rear). https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/raybestos-brake-pads-failed.389723/page-2#post-7077058 .

    Raybestos brake pads failed

Many Ferodo pads (Premier Eco Friction) use to come with a GG rating. "FER5100 GG" actually is a Ferodo made compound. Don't overrate these ratings, often misleading and only one small part of what actually matters. Some FF rated pads feel better than some GG rated ones. .

Brake Pad Model Type / Homologation Number: FER9225 FG

. "FER92252" is a up-to-date compound made by Ferodo (Federal-Mogul), for instance used by Volkswagen for several MQB based models (Arteon, Passat, Golf Mk7, T-Roc, Tiguan and Touran) and Audi (Q3) for European markets. .

    75W85 GL4 vs 75W85 GL4/GL5 vs 75w90 GL4

I had a similar task: My own Mini Cooper. BMW use Castrol-made its own BMW MTF LT-4 75W-90 GL-4. FWIW I was looking for some GL-4 and dedicated 'MTF' only. Well, my own climate is different. Climate ranges between -10°C and +30°C, so I probably could use 75W-85, providing sufficient protection...

Anyone familiar with VW leaky sunroofs?

Past 35 years I owned several VWs and Audis with sunroofs, my current Mini has a moonroof. None of them had a single leak. If it had issues it had either wind noise (Golf Mk3) or rattle (Mini). Easy. I'd use an old speedo cable. To be honest I never ever cleaned any drain lines. Probably...

Negative experience with EBC Ultimax2 Brake Pads

. Higher friction coefficient. Higher friction leads to less pedal effort. Much more important, is it consistent? Cold, mildly warm, real hot, even when wet? eTC ETC. Maybe some manufacturers do it better than others. Extensive OE expertise helps IMHO. .

Negative experience with EBC Ultimax2 Brake Pads

Like edyvw mentioned, if so, that 2008 Passat came with weaker tyres. Tyres stop your car. BUT, we're talking about brake pads today. Obviously that 2008 Passat came with superior brakes compared to this Accord and to the Malibu. No doubt. .

Negative experience with EBC Ultimax2 Brake Pads

:ROFLMAO: EBC is actually a garage company and they DO make junk, commonly distributed via 'tuning shops'. The 'world leader' in glistening . . . No OEM history, nothing. No racing reputation to speak from. The vast majority of reputable teams use to run CL, Endless, Ferodo, Pagid, Performance...

    Mass loss rating

After joining this forum no less than 16 years ago and members talking about Noack literally daily, it finally catches your eye? Congrats. Lower weights, typically yes, since lower weights hold an increased amount of lighter molecules with higher volatility. Fully synthetic? Not in...
