    Bridgestone Weatherpeak

At 3 months and 1500 miles the Weatherpeaks are doing OK. About a month ago I had a TPMS sensor changed. When they reinstalled the tire it got a bubble in it when they inflated. So that tire was replaced. Earlier this week I noticed a minor vibration and took it back to Discount Tire. They said...

First Transmission Fluid Change at High Mileage (100,000+)?

I was hoping that there might be a professional transmission specialist on this forum that could weigh in on their experiences with vehicles coming into their shop with transmission problems and might have some insight for us. Not sure how many techs frequent this forum. I'm just a reasonably...

First Transmission Fluid Change at High Mileage (100,000+)?

Do you mean using the transmission to pump the old fluid out? That's #3 on my list. Do you mean using an external machine to pump the old fluid out and new fluid in? That's #4 on my list.

Aquaintance has trouble getting engine fixed ... This is sad

How much would a quality rebuilt engine install cost? Assuming of course you could find someone to do it.

First Transmission Fluid Change at High Mileage (100,000+)?

If only 2 quarts come out from a drain, and the total capacity is 6.7 quarts, then the numbers look even worse. One drain and fill yields a mix of new to old of: 30% new - 70% old Two drain and fill yields a mix of new to old of: 51% new - 49% old Three drain and fill yields a mix of new to old...

First Transmission Fluid Change at High Mileage (100,000+)?

One Drain and fill will leave a lot of old oil in the system. I don't know the actual numbers for the 6-speed transmission on my 2010 Camry as I see several listed on the internet. I am assuming 2.6 qt drain and fill and 6.7 qt total. (Please update if you have more accurate capacities). One...

First Transmission Fluid Change at High Mileage (100,000+)?

Thanks for the details. I will have to see if the transmission line is easy to remove. I did my 2010 Camry last year at 80,000 miles by draining, filling, then removing transmission line at the cooler and running a quart out, stopping engine, and replacing a quart. This is how I have done...

First Transmission Fluid Change at High Mileage (100,000+)?

Thanks. Just curious since it looks like you are familiar with this vehicle. Why not do 2 or 3 drain-fills or even the fluid pump-out process ( #3)? Have you seen problems doing this? Not trying to talk you out of your suggestion, but looking for rationale.

Need all season (but good for snow) tire recommendations

Bridgestone just came out with the Weatherpeak tires. They are supposed to be a competitor to the Michelin CrossClimates. I got a set on my Camry a couple months ago. They seem fine. I got them mainly for rain performance and the occasional light snow we get here. Gt them at Discount Tire. They...

First Transmission Fluid Change at High Mileage (100,000+)?

My son's 2010 Toyota Corolla has 100,000 miles on it. Transmission fluid never changed. Friends 2009 Venza; same thing. I have seen several options discussed: 1. Only do one drain and fill. 2. Do several drain and fills. 3. Drain, fill. Then unhook transmission line and let transmission pump...

Guess Discount Tire is now my exclusive retail tire dealer

Discount Tire is now my exclusive retail tire dealer too. So many good experiences (tire repair, valve repair, free rotation), plus they match or beat Costco , Walmart or any others. Plus they have free Road Hazard.

How long do tires last (age) and how?

At 8 years I had some slippage on some Yokahama Avids. Still had 5-6/32 of tread, and no sidewall cracking. Car was garage kept. I assumed the rubber had become hard. I replaced them with Bridgestone Weatherpeak tires. Sold the Yokahamas on FB Marketplace. Told the guy all about them. He didn't...

Tire Care Using 303 and Aero Cosmetics Rubber Care

303 does not promote cracking. Only used Rubber Care for a year now so jury still out on that one. Bleche Wite is very harsh. I use it to clean on occasion but always follow with double treatment of 303.

New Bridgestone Weatherpeak Tread Depth Under Spec

I bought a tread depth gauge similar to the Longacre, but a lot cheaper. It is fairly hefty and felt similar to the Longacre that DT manager had. Measured the tires (in 32nds): LF: 9.8-10.0 RF: 9.6-9.8 LR: 9.8-10.0 RR: 9.6-9.8 So a little low, but OK I guess...

Discount Tire- no more pro-rated road hazard?

I think the basic DT road hazard warranty would have fully covered the tires as they would have had minimal wear, hence no prorated decrease. Did you have to pay for mounting and for a new certificated for each replaced tire?

Discount Tire- no more pro-rated road hazard?

Do they charge the installation fee on the new tire? Do you have to buy a new certificate for the new tire?

Discount Tire- no more pro-rated road hazard?

I think you are correct in that you have to pay the mounting/balancing cost on the replacement tire.
