Can a BatteryMinder Cause Battery Water Level to Drop?

I haven't bothered with BatteryMinder as you have to send the units to them. Perhaps I should. I did have an older one fail also, but two others are working fine.

Can a BatteryMinder Cause Battery Water Level to Drop?

I have had 2 of these Northern bought Battery Minders fail. Other older Battery Minder units have worked well. Not sure what is going on with the new units, but they are very light in weight. The older (and heavy) units are still working.

Valvoline Restore & Protect: Eliminate Toyota VVTI Cold Start Noise???

I have 2010 Camry w 4 cylinder. Presently I have no VVTI noise. Thinking about using the Valvoline R&P as preventive measure, mainly for oil control ring cleaning, but VVTI gear cleaning as well. Friend with 2009 Venza just had his gear replaced. If I had known about R&P I would have suggested...

Valvoline Restore & Protect: Eliminate Toyota VVTI Cold Start Noise???

I thought varnish buildup was one cause of the rattle. Causes the gear lock pin to engage slowly.

Can a BatteryMinder Cause Battery Water Level to Drop?

I would never trust a HF maintainer or any other cheap one. Sad though that the higher end (and cost) units like the BatteryMinder occasionally have similar problems.

Can a BatteryMinder Cause Battery Water Level to Drop?

Reading through BatteryMinder reviews on Amazon and elsewhere there are some (a small percentage) that have had similar experience with water level dropping and other battery problems. So some of the BateryMinder units may be running a little higher voltage, and some batteries may be more...

Can a BatteryMinder Cause Battery Water Level to Drop?

I have used BatteryMinder 12117 maintainer for over 20 years, generally with great results (batteries last at least 5+ years). I have had a problem with a few batteries recently that I kept on the maintainer for a very long period of time (several weeks to 3 months). In one lead acid battery...

    4L80E TCC Not Locking

I can try that, but I have a Scangage showing tranny temps of about 130-150-deg. Wouldn't a restriction cause much higher temperatures, well over 200-deg?

    4L80E TCC Not Locking

Tranny guy hooked up Snapon scanner and it showed no codes. Drove vehicle and it shifted smoothly through all 4 gears. Scanner showed no codes. Showed no slippage in 4th gear, indicating TCC was activated. I asked why when shifting into 4th, the scanner should show slippage, then a few seconds...

    4L80E TCC Not Locking

Purchased. Could not get it to connect to my phone, so I returned it. Still looking for a scanner that can read transmission codes. It is very hard to determine if a particular scanner will or not. Very frustrating.

    Tire Protectant

My main interest is finding a good tire protectant to prevent the sidewall from cracking. There are a ton of tire dressings out there, but I want protection from UV, ozone and whatever else causes a tire to deteriorate. I have used 303 going back 25 years. It has worked OK but price has gone...

    4L80E TCC Not Locking

Regarding a scanner, getting one with capabilities like ABS bleed would be handy. Quick search shows units like Foxwell NT630 or HF Zurich units. Not sure how to tell if they can get transmission level codes.

    4L80E TCC Not Locking

I had OReillys check for codes but they showed none. Looks like a more advanced reader is needed. I am OK buying a scanner. Any suggestions on a good one for a DIY guy like myself?

Brake Caliper Pins: One Has 3 Flats, Other One No Flats. Where Do They Go?

OK, here are two links that have discussion on some Hondas and a page from the service manual (Sorry I don’t know how to put pictures in here, thus the links). This one shows the caliper at the front of the rotor. The cylinder pin (with no flats) is in the top hole, which is at the leading...

Brake Caliper Pins: One Has 3 Flats, Other One No Flats. Where Do They Go?

Decided to replace the caliper pins on my 2006 Chevrolet Express 3500 van. Removed the caliper pins not paying attention to them. Went to put in the new pins and noticed one pin has 3 flat sections about 1/8-inch wide running along the length. The other pins has no flat sections. Could find...
