Yeah, the Tacoma ended up being a little too unrefined for me. However, if you know what you're getting into and you're ok with the compromises then they're great trucks. Enjoy the new ride.
I wonder if they have gotten any quieter. I had a 2016 TRD Offroad and the revving wouldn't have bothered me if it didn't sound like a jet engine at 4k rpm.
Make sure you test drive it thoroughly. I loved the second gens and regretting buying a third gen without a proper test drive.
That sounds like playing with fire.
GM's reply to the 8 speed lawsuits was that it was a design flaw, not a manufacturing defect so they shouldn't be held responsible (even though they designed the darn thing). After dealing with my Sierra for a year before trading it for a F-150 I don't think I'll go back to GM.
I use Apple Carplay. If we're going somewhere remote and I'm worried about cellular signal I just download the the area in Google Maps so I can use offline navigation.
In my area I don't have a choice. Comcast is the only high speed cable/internet provider and Verizon is the only wireless carrier that has coverage. When I lived in DC the options were countless, but things get pretty limited once you get out of the city.
Every car/truck has their problems. I hope you have good luck with this one.
I had a 2017 Sierra SLT that I loved. Unfortunately, GM couldn't fix the 8 speed issues and I traded it in.
The longest drives I've done straight through in no particular order are:
- DC to Ft. Myers
- DC to Boston
- DC to Atlanta
- DC to Manchester TN
- VA Beach to Allagash Maine
- VA Beach to Watertown NY
- Los Angeles to Denver
- Austin TX to New Orleans
I've had both and I prefer the Husky liners. The Xact Contour fit perfectly and they feel like a soft rubber as opposed to a harder plastic. Also, all of the Husky liners I've bought have been made in the USA.
I'm not really sure why Ford needs the Edge (between the Escape and the Explorer). I would rather they drop the Edge and keep the Fusion. Cars are dying, but they could have kept 1 midsize sedan around.
Test driving the 2.7L and the 3.5L (not towing) I couldn't tell the difference. I actually preferred the 2.7L for fuel economy, but ended up with the 3.5L because it was very difficult to find a 2.7L with the Lariat Ultimate package in my area.
