My biggest pet peeve is newer transmissions. 5/6 speed torque converter transmissions from the 90's were smooth as butter. I know they're not as efficient, but it sure was a lot more luxurious.

Recommending boots is going to be tough because a lot of what makes a boot good for you is the fit. I've pretty much switched to wearing trail runners for hiking (Brooks Cascadia 16), but I do have a pair of Salomon Quest gore-tex boots that I wear for winter hiking.

What is your OCI? If you're staying under 10k intervals I would just use Edge. I use Edge in 5k intervals in my Ecoboost, but even Magnatec is fine at 5k.

I'm pretty tough on socks as well and the only ones that have held up for me are Darn Tough. If they failed at this point I would feel bad about using the lifetime warranty because they've lasted a few years where other socks only make it a few months.

As Donald stated, it requires a move in 2 different directions so it's pretty hard to do that accidentally. Additionally, the plastic lock clip is pretty secure. I haven't had any issues with mine leaking.

I think a lot of people miss the point of the FIRE movement. It's more about financial independence than retiring early. A lot of people in the FIRE movement love working and won't ever retire. However, they want to work because they want to, not because they have to.

Do you know anything about the guy that rebuilt the engine in the black burb? Unless he rebuilds engines for a living it seems like a huge risk.
