    Oil gets dirty very quick

The color of the oil isn't the issue. It's the amount of gunk it's picking up in such a short time coupled with lifter noise. I poured in 1/3 bottle of ceratec last night with my fresh oil. Curious to see if that makes any difference. I'm not expecting anything from the ceratec. I will say...

How much gas can modern oils take?

It doesn't take much gas in the oil to advance wear. No idea where to pull data on hard numbers, though. I would also have to imagine that there would be several variables: oil formulation, bearing material, etc. Honda, and others, have had issues with fuel dilution in recent years in their...

    Anyone installed aftermarket stop/start defeat?

Some vehicles don't give you the option to turn it off from the factory. GM has done this on several models

    Oil gets dirty very quick

I have had the best intentions to do this....but haven't been able to bring myself to do it, yet. Replacing it looks like a pain. It is on my short list, though.

    Oil gets dirty very quick

Probably 180k~200k. It doesn't get driven a whole lot on a consistent basis.

    Oil gets dirty very quick

I checked the coolant for combustion gasses and that came back all clear. Perhaps there is some coolant mixing in but in just very small amounts the combustion check wouldn't catch?

    Oil gets dirty very quick

I had them off about 2 years ago. There was definitely some buildup. But nothing extreme.

    Oil gets dirty very quick

I have an 02 suburban with the 5.3 that has ~220k miles on it. I've owned it for 5 or 6 years and always do regular maintenance. No idea what previous owner did concerning oil changes but there is definitely some sludge. I used a product like Motor Flush, or some such, out of curiosity about...

    Snap on VS Matco

My God...$1,100 for a small 1/4 ratchet set??? No way this set is 10x to 20x better than the competition.

Has anything increased in price as much as replacement wiper blades have?

These sound like Autozone prices. Have you checked wal mart, rock auto, etc?

Tools breaking is pretty normal. A wrench breaking after 3-5 light uses and about 10 ft/lb of torque is not acceptable. Or worth the cost "savings" to me. Don't get me wrong, I have aquired lot of tools from harbor freight over the last 20 years. However, they have definitely sold me a lot of...

The sun will rise in the west! Cox lowered bill

We have 4 cars. 2 of our cars bottomed out in value....years ago. Lol One of our cars took a hit in value as it's new. I'm surprised my rates went down 20%, though. No accidents, tickets, or claims in 10 or 15 years. If that matters.

The sun will rise in the west! Cox lowered bill

Good to hear. Hell may be freezing over, though. My auto insurance just went down, too. No idea why but I'm not arguing!

A few years. 10 maybe? It was a ratchet that never really saw any use, either. It was the type where the handle can flex in 2 different places. Once I put a small amount of torque on the bolt, the handle let loose and the handle popped me in the eye. I have come to despise cheaply made tools.

CBS News ( 7 days old ) : New or Used car sticker shock ...

Vehicle price of $10k at 5% for 48 months is basically $300/month when the dust settles. Not much worth buying at that price range today unless you're handy with a wrench. Let alone, who would be willing to finance it. Most of those cars at that price are at buy here/pay here lots or private...

How come the auto parts stores don't carry oem parts?

The manufacturer of the part (or sometimes just the packaging/label on the part) will dictate profit margin. The whole model is based on buying large quantities of cheaper parts (parts which often "fit" multiple vehicles) in order to leverage a higher profit. Some of these parts are just oem...

Outrageous Dealer Add-Ons and Fees - When Will They Learn?

This can definitely be a good option. I am, however, extremely cautious of CPO anymore. Wife and I have test driven a few CPO that were hammered and ran like dog snot. No clue why a couple of them were even on the lot, they were so bad.
