    Which grease for inverted struts?

    Mobil 1 synthetic grease does not contain any moly. Clunking noise is usually due to stiction when the old grease in the insert housing becomes useless. There are more in depth explanations finding faults in the inherent design of the dampers in a thread on NASIOC (North American Subaru Impreza...

    Which grease for inverted struts?

    I'm not sure what you mean by strut bearings. I took the insert out of the strut housing. I was planning on cleaning out the current yellow grease in the housing near the top of the body where the insert came out of. It is nearest the dust seal.

    Which grease for inverted struts?

    I have 2004 STi struts that I am taking apart and repacking with grease to help fix a notorious clunking issue that they have. I'm not sure what grease I should go with. I bought Mobil 1 Synthetic Red grease but it does not contain any moly. Should I gow tih something like Valvoline's...

    03 Subaru WRX Oil?

    I've seen the UOA's with Rotella T synthetic and the high zinc and phosphorous levels scare me. Bad for the cats.

    Motul automotive oil

    If you want cheap Motul call up the service dept. at South Coast Subaru here in Socal. I got five liters of 8100 Xcess 5w40 for $5.95 each, they also carry the 8100 Eco-nergy 5w30 for the same price. However, based on my UOA, it didn't do so hot.

    Double-Super-Secret 5W-40 Audi RS4 Racing Oil

    Well I finally went to the RLI website to see how much the BioSyn will cost me. $35 for the gallon of 5w40HD isn't bad, but then a whopping $20 for shipping!!! Yikes

    Motul 5w40 X-cess VOA

    I had a UOA done with this oil from my '05 WRX, and had high levels of Silicone, Sodium and Tin. Well I still can't explain the Tin, but it seems Silicone and Sodium are at least present here in the VOA. My air filter is only about 5k miles old so that doesn't explain the higher silicone. I...

    Eneos = Japanese Amsoil?

    ^^^I understand. When I do try some Amsoil, I'll run a UOA and if it improves upon my situation with the Motul I'm running, then I'll definitely recommend it.

    Eneos = Japanese Amsoil?

    Despite the marketing strategies, I'll probably try some AMSOIL in the future. But I've read the ENEOS threads on these forums and I just cannot buy from that company.

    Motul 8100 X-cess 5w40 UOA from 05 WRX

    Thanks for the replies. Just for more information, I did replace the air filter with a OEM unit only about 3500 miles ago. And I just checked yesterday to make sure it was seated well and it was all good. Also, this being a WRX, it was driven hard occasionally in the canyons on about 5 different...

    Eneos = Japanese Amsoil?

    You are probably right. But still, there are Amsoil proprietors on other forums (car specific forums such as NASIOC) that push their products on unsuspecting forum members without disclosing their identity. Plus, I think seeing the Amsoil logo on one of those Performance 4WD trucks or on...
