Landrover series 3 109 stage one v8 oil recommendation?

I had a Disco I with the 4.0, same engine only fuel injected and computer controlled. 5w-40 diesel oil for the win. 250k on the truck total, 100k by me. 5w-40 will provide the cold starts you’re looking for, and the diesel formulation will provide the protection you need for that cam...

    Using HDEO's in Gasoline Engines

I manage a fleet of delivery trucks. All but one are gas engines. i use 15w-40 in all but one, the one that gets 5w-30 is a Ford Transit, it gets Mobil 1. One truck has a Powerstroke. The rest are gas V8’s. They all get the diesel oil, PM’s are every 10k. These trucks are ran hard and put away...

Post your latest oil purchase or even filter.

Just PM’d two of my trucks tonight. 3rd oil change for each of them. 2021 Ford 7.3L Godzilla V8’s with 30,000 miles each. Each truck takes two gallons of oil. I buy the oil filters by the case, so no box, and the oil I buy by the pallet. It is a synthetic blend.

Summer car oil change, once per year, when to do?

If you are storing a carbureted vehicle for long term you need to install a fuel shut off valve And do NOT use any fuel that contains any amount of ethanol. Ethanol WILL ruin the carburetor. It causes the float to stick. The needle seats to corrode. The float bowl to corrode. Tons and tons of...

    2015 Kia Sedona Oil Consumption

I only used Mobil 1 because it was $25/case at Costco and it was supposed to be a good oil, and at one time I believe it was. Now it is all marketing and riding their own coat tails.

My oil scores haven't been what they used to be

I manage a fleet and this is the best deal I can get in quality for a quality oil that I go through A LOT of. I have one diesel truck that takes 5 gals. The rest (gas engine) all take 2 gal. I wish I could buy it by the drum, but right now I do not have a place to store it.

    2015 Kia Sedona Oil Consumption

I’m going to add my .02¢ to this since I have experience with a Sedona. My wife and I bought a 1 owner 2006 Sedona with 130,change 10 years ago. I always used full synthetic engine oil and a quality oil filters. Oil changes every 5,000 miles no matter the time, which averaged once a year...

The Drive: Look What Happens to a Low-Mile Ford Diesel With Tons of Idle Time and No Maintenance

This truck was a yard switcher. Meaning it was used to move trailers around 24/7 by different people. If no one is in charge of vehicle maintence it will never have the oil changed. This truck has a hour meter but unless you know how to pull it up you won’t know how long the engine has been...

    Oil for a BIG Diesel

Most of those super large marine engines never get a oil change. They take to much. They keep them full and nothing more. Hundreds of gallons of motor oil. 20w-50 was specifically developed for the Queen Mary’s engine By British Petroleum.

    Cheap windshield wipers

Problem with his test though is that he did not do a age test. Wiper blades will change over time, cheap ones will rot and fall apart quicker. Expensive ones you might be paying for the name and nothing more. Silicone you know what you’re getting, silicone. I use Sil-Blade and PIAA silicone...

    Cheap windshield wipers

Silicone wiper blades. Done. I’ve been a truck driver for 30 years. The mechanics always used cheap rubber wiper blades. So I started buying my own silicone blades. They last for 5 years. Do not get hard in the cold. Do not melt in the heat. Always a good clean wiper every time.

Green Grease or Lucas Xtra Duty?

Update-I’ve stuck with the Green Grease, I buy it by the case at NAPA, it’s $100 before my discount. I have been learning to not over grease my trucks, which is saving grease. I have a electric grease gun and getting right to the point of not pushing to much old grease out and onto the ground...

    Iridium plugs after 60,000 miles

My wife drives a 06 Sedona. In the owners manual it says not to replace the spark plugs until the MIL illuminates. Well, at 186k we got a code for random misfire. Pulled out all 6 original Denso Iridium plugs and three of them had no electrode left. The van ran great until the MIL, then it...

Green Grease or Lucas Xtra Duty?

I manage a fleet of 10 trucks, I have been using Green Grease for decades on my personal vehicles, ball joints, tie rod ends, u-joints, slip yokes you name it. I swear by this stuff. But it’s pricy. So shopping around for a alternative grease for my fleet and personal use. My trucks go 10k...

    OCI in the "new normal"

Oil changes are cheap. Change it once a year with a full synthetic and be done with it. You are going to get all kinds of condensation inside the crankcase.

    Fleet motor oil

I wish, but no. We are parked inside a heated building and no work is allowed to be done on the vans while the are backed up to the conveyor belt. The building is locked at 10pm and not opened again until 3am. We only have 10 trucks, 9 brand new and one used. So a full time tech is not needed...
