    changing spark plugs

Can a shade tree mechanic (myself) change the spark plugs on a 1998 (2nd gen.)Chrysler minivan V-6 engine? I ask since its a transverse engine, with one bank of plugs facing toward the back, and seemingly fairly inaccessible. Or is it better to just go to a mechanic for this ? Any advice, and...

cooking spray as road salt repellant ?

The worst is when we get a cold snap below freezing for a long time and the car is all crusted up with salt. Too cold to wash it at home or carwash, and the salt just stays on there. Can't stand the sight of it and what it does to the car. No garage, so can't warm it up enough to wash the salt...

cooking spray as road salt repellant ?

Maybe a weird question, but was wondering if using a non-stick cooking spray such as "smart balance" or "pam" sprayed on lower panel areas of vehicles (or undercarriage) would help ward off road salt we get from winter roads ? Would it perhaps cause it (salt)not to stick to the treated areas...

lost horn, cruise control; gained airbag light

Lately I lost my horn and cruise control, and the airbag light(red) on the dashboard came on, seemingly all at about the same time, although didn't notice exactly the timing of it all. Vehicle is a '98 Plymouth minivan. Any suggestions as to what is the problem? Thanks for any and all ideas.

So when will the price of oil start to come down?

Another place with high oil prices is Advance Auto Parts. Their house brand used to be a good deal, now thats even $2.79 a quart. Way too high for me. Hoping it starts to come down everywhere soon, these prices are too high, considering the big drop in world prices per barrel; down to...

    awful motor oil prices

Agreed. Lets face it, since when have we ever seen a decrease in shelf motor oil prices, except for sales? I mean an across the board decrease. Never seen it, that I know of. Also: could be a demand fall off if people are using longer change intervals, which may happen at current prices. Just...

    awful motor oil prices

In Advance Auto today: Common brand motor oil prices seemed high for individual quarts. (Didn't look at big bottles.) Example: Pennzoil @ $4.09 per quart. Advance Auto brand: $2.68 per quart. Am going to wait a few weeks and see if prices come down as world oil price keep falling; under...

    wally world prices

Saw pennzoil conventional for $3.57 per quart there yesterday, 5 qt. bottle for $12. Just wondering: with world oil prices coming down in recent months, to 80-some dollars a barrel lately this past week, will the shelf price of motor oil come down in coming weeks?

    old outboard oil recommendation

Would it be of any benefit to run a modern air-cooled oil in this motor such as Mobil 2T or any other ISO-LEGD/JASO FC rated oil?

    old outboard oil recommendation

I have just gotten running a Sears 7hp. air-cooled outboard. Single cylinder. I used 16/1 just to get it going, but what would be the recommended gas/oil ratio to use having no owners manual? Seems 16/1 probably unnecessarily oil rich, but don't know. This motor looks to be something from about...

    coolant for '98 Subaru Forester

The owners manual says to use an "ethylene-glycol basis coolant." Please recommend a coolant for this engine. I am new to this car.(and this forum). I also find the coolant selections in autoparts stores a bit confusing these days. Thanks for any suggestions.
