    2022 Tundra Crew Max

The 2018+ 3.5L Ecoboost comes with such large turbos from the factory that they dont even limit torque. The earlier ones did. My 2014 runs about 30 hp less at 6500’. The barometric pressure vs torque table on the 2018+ is just empty. So they can make 400 hp up to 11,000+ feet without issue. It...

    2022 Tundra Crew Max

Have you seen how many coolers it has though. Im pretty sure it has coolers for its coolers.

    2022 Tundra Crew Max

I cant prove it but it’s extremely odd that anything from a 300 hp Pentastar to a 707hp TRX all end up at the exact same mpg. But yeah, i think most of the ECM stuff is done in metric these days. It certainly is in my Ecoboost ECM. It uses Newton-meters for torque for sure. My liberty CRD was...

    2022 Tundra Crew Max

I’m genuinely excited for the Tundra. I really like the GTDI concept for trucks and I think Toyota is the one who is actually going to execute it well. My only gripe is the payload is lackluster at best. Ive been following the payload thread at Tundras.com and so far the highest sticker anyone...

    2022 Tundra Crew Max

The Rams literally never show below 4.7 mpg. In fact no FCA products do, apparently. The TRX, the regular Ram 1500, the Durango, the Gladiator. They all showed 4.7mpg using different trailers on different days. Their computers clearly dont display any lower so literally any FCA IKE mpg results...

What Car Maker Has The Most...

I have a feeling that most Subaru owners are clueless. My anecdotal evidence is my grand parents, all my aunts and uncles, cousins and a few friends. They replace transmissions, heads, head gaskets etc and keep going back for more. I also owned two, at the same time, both Legacy’s, and probably...

Quaker State 5W-40 Ultimate Durability Euro Full Synthetic

I cant get it locally in UT and my Dad cannot in MA. I would absolutely start using this in my Ecoboost F150

Mobil 1 ESP now available in 5qt jugs in the US

That does look nice but I can’t find it locally.

"The 2022 Subaru WRX Is So Good It’s Almost Boring"

Agreed. While the practical side of me likes the idea of a turbo’d awd sedan, I would way rather just drive my truck or Lexus GX in bad weather and get a rwd something or other with a manual. My GTO was so much more fun to drive than my Legacy GT even though the Legacy probably would have been...

"The 2022 Subaru WRX Is So Good It’s Almost Boring"

I find it weird that turbo lag is still a thing. The 2.4L with the same power should have made lag much better than the 2.0. And then just the fact that its a GTDI means it should have a stout low end. Like literally a single 3.5L ecoboost turbo could power this thing and Ford somehow spools two...

Mobil 1 ESP now available in 5qt jugs in the US

Im trying to decide if I should get this. $29.24 is more than I think I have ever spent on 5 qts of oil in my entire life, but I did start running Euro oil in my F150 Ecoboost. PP Euro L at the moment.

Subaru Japan now only recommends two oil grades 0W-30 and 10W-50

That rock crusher they call an engine in the STI probably does need 50 weight. Everyone was running Rotella T6 5W-40 when I had my legacy GT with the EJ255 because the engines didnt like 5W-30.

    Used Titan vs Tundra

The 5.6L makes peak torque at 3600 rpm, which is exactly the same as the 5.7L, but makes slightly less. Its really the HP where the Tundra is substantially better though. 317 vs 381. I would rather have the extra HP because that tells me the torque curve on the Titan tanks compared to the...

    Tesla Cybertruck

After seeing the report about how that couple towing a Mustang GT500 on an open trailer with a Rivian R1T, I’ve solidified my position that its gunna be a while before I go electric. They were stopping every 100 miles to recharge. 20 stops over 2000 miles.

Is there any practical benefit to letting a passenger car oil warm up before driving?

People's lives changing. . . . . . By the time my F150 gets to 200k it will be >15 years old and I am pretty sure something in my life might change between now and then that causes me to buy a new car. I also start my car. Give it 10-15 seconds and then drive gently.

    Nissan R51 to Jeep WJ

I was looking at WJ's as an offroad rig and, as mentioned, the issue with the V8 seemed to be losing a head gasket. Even one overheat event and it could be done. I really wanted one though. They are very capable in stock form offroad. A set of tires and lift and they can do some crazy stuff...

    Boy, did I get taken…

I have a similar problem with my 22RE. under hard use, like running 70 mph on the freeway(thats hard for a 22re in a lifted 4Runner), it consimes oil at a ridiculous rate. Under normal around town driving the consumption is way lower. I have not seen any signs of a leak, no smoke, and no smell...

Any cars you regret buying? - My '14 CR-V experience

That was the F37 fix. It actually was related to the fact that they put in a torque converter that was not strong enough to handle the low end torque. The spring in the TC would slam and cause shudder if they allowed the TC to lock while at full torque. so essentially, they detuned the motor to...

Any cars you regret buying? - My '14 CR-V experience

Yup. My dad has a 2008 Trailblazer SS and I am not sure if there is a single part in the car he has not replaced at this point besides the engine and axle.

Any cars you regret buying? - My '14 CR-V experience

My wife an I had two Subaru's, a 2009 Legacy 2.5i and a 2007 Legacy GT Spec.B. Neither gave us major problems in the time we owned them but I could see the writing on the wall and I was not willing to wait to find out. The 2.5i did need valve cover gaskets at like 85k, which should have been a...
