Chevy Volt bad idea for BITOG members!

I've got other cars that could use the Ultra Platinum or some slightly used Mobil 1 5w30 EP.

Chevy Volt bad idea for BITOG members!

In April 2015, I bought a Chevy Volt. For those who don't know, it is an electric car with about 40 miles of range. Then, as soon as you run out of battery power, a gasoline engine fires up and takes you the rest of the way until you charge the battery. Over the last 17 months, I've put 16,000...

What is your conventional oil choice.?

The ONLY time in recent memory that I didn't use synthetic oil was years ago when my daughter kept driving while that red "change oil soon" was lit. I told her what the light really meant. She begged me to come to the car and bring oil. I bought the absolute cheapest oil I could find - it just...

Got my Micro Green oil filter in from the 50% sale

I fully understand all of your concerns. However, aren't the ISO tests aimed at a single filtering element? It could be that the single element ISO testing is not applicable to a filter that has a built-in bypass filter. Not explicitly trying to defend them - Heck, if a single filtering element...

    Suggest an experiment?

Everything I read on BITOG, engine oil flushes shouldn't be done. Since you don't care about these cars, do tests to find out which flushes work, and which ruin the engine. For example, fill the crankcase with diesel oil and idle for a half hour. Then drain, new filter and oil, and run. Be creative.

It gets better. Pennzoil has a $2/quart rebate up to 24 quarts. So, $13 and change for 5 quarts of Pennzoil ain't bad at all.
