    2013 Venza going through oil

Actually, I bought the Toyota PCV last month (Venza and RX350) and it is cheaper than local chained part store. You have to wait or just go to the local stealership part dept. At the least, it is about the same price if the local stealership is charging retail.

Super glue to hold valve cover gasket?

I have only done VCG in Toyota. The gasket usually holds very well in the groove without drooping down. Put a dab of sealant where there is a break or a bend but that is on the flat surface engine side.

    09 Lexus RX350 with 26k miles

Well, need to check that oil cooler. Some does not have it. I have a 2010 RX350 that ended up not having that oil cooler at all but I suspect, they put the updated version in 2010 if it has it. Probably not updated in 2009. Who knows, they may have changed it already. That is a good car...

    Interesting RockAuto filter problem

Depends on what car you are complaining about? For my Toyota, I have started buying them from stealership via web which is not stealership anymore because they are cheaper than the part store or even WM Supertech. FWIW, I have 3 Toyota which uses the same cartridge filter.

    Bad Alternator?

There is also a possibility when the alt is weak but not bad yet. If you have a shop specializing in rebuilding starter/alternator, bring it to them. They are hopefully more knowledgeable on electrical issues.

    Bad Alternator?

Take it to another shop? What kind of shop did you take it to? There is also a possibility that the cable is bad from alt to battery. If you have a load tester, you can test it yourself. Measure the load without any electrical parts. Turn on all electrical parts you can think of like AC, Lights...
