    Ecogard X2500-B

I have used a number of Ecogard X series on several cars for 5-7k and they are solid filters. Especially for $2-3 each!

    Castrol vs Valvoline

I don't see much of a discount on either brand at this time, except for a few $$ off at Walmart. However, Valvoline currently offers $5/jug rebate whereas castrol only offers a chance to win a yeti cooler. If money/sales are the determining factor, order two jugs of Quaker State from the...

Which oil filter for my Honda Fit, from RockAuto?

Get the Ackoja. They cost the most so therefore they must be the best! Seriously though, I used the ACDelco in my Honda for several years and they worked well. The champ pH 2867 may be identical, so I would certainly consider this option. It is considered more of a jobber level (maybe because...

Is this filter longer version of the YZZD1?

I don't know. I did a quick search for EU Toyota 4 cyl filters but the engine numbers are different than ours (we have 1zz and 2zz but they dont have these). It may be impossible to directly compare them.

Is this filter longer version of the YZZD1?

I wondered because EU countries often have different engine models/versions. For example the EU 2005 Corolla had at least three versions of the 4 cyl (and a diesel) but we only had two versions.

Is this filter longer version of the YZZD1?

On a related note... Most Toyotas in the US of A use the 3/4-16 thread, but do most Toyotas in other countries use metric threads? Perhaps they get a different thread adapter in countries who use the metric system???

Is this filter longer version of the YZZD1?

I think part of the confusion comes from online listings who present incorrect info. For example, Amazon lists the D1 and D3 as having M16x1.5 threads. Amazon is wrong! Both filters are 3/4-16. And AI parrots the same BS. Here is a chart showing the thread sizes for most engines used in racing...

I thought Circle K had the best deal ($3 for a weiner, chips, and large soda), but $1.50 is d@mn good!

Eco guard Air Filter Quality ?

I have used Ecogard in a few different cars and they were fine. As others mentioned it's hard to tell how good they are, but they seemed to be well made and sealed well.

    Electric Foam Sprayer

Is that ad on Amazon? If so, try it and let us know how well it works (compared to foam cannons). If no good just return it.

Found an old wearguard ph8a OCD

Is that a 26 y.o. filter? That's awesome! Run it and then cut it!

That isn't bad, and probably within spec. Somewhat surprisingly, my Toyota owners manual states that 1 qt per 600 miles is normal!

Oldest oil filter you ever used?

I think you are right! My filter's UPC (below) is the same as the one listed on the Summit Racing site for the new XG3593A. Fortunately for the shopper/returner, walmart takes returns without a receipt; but I'm kinda surprised they didn't use the filter before returning it...

Oldest oil filter you ever used?

I just installed the oldest filter I have ever used. This is a Honeywell Fram XG3597A that may be from 2006. The box lists 2005 as the copyright date, and the date code is C60593. IIUC that date code represents the 59th day of 2006 or 2016, and I can't imagine they would still be using 10+ y.o...

    Oilpan Drainplug Removal Tool

This funnel is interesting! The description does not say which brands/models it fits. Does this really fit various cars? Ideally I would have one that fits Toyota, Cadillac, and Honda! The harbor freight version has several adapters but costs more than I am willing to spend.

Replacement Oil Change Container Plastic Plugs

I also noticed the little vent cap pops off, but I just assumed I damaged it somehow when I forced it under a few cars! But my main plug fits pretty snug and hasn't leaked. Also, I only ever tried to put 12-13 qts in it so I don't know if it coukd reach the rated amount. Over all I like it...

    Power Steering Fluid Change Questions

The basic store brand PS fluid will work fine in a GM vehicle. However, if your car has notchy or otherwise imperfect steering it may be worth upgrading the fluid. IMO the Lucas PS fluid with conditioners is one of the best off-the-shelf fluids available (walmart). I have used it in several high...
