Amsoil Signature Series 0W-40, API SP, New Oil Reference.

This is the last results of my OCI running Amsoil European 0W-40. https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/amsoil-0w-40-euro-10500k-12-equinox-2-4l-150k-long.343936/#post-5837940

This GDI engine will knock it down to 13.5 pretty quickly, and then level out.

Polaris Lab said they same thing, Ester based additive packages will show an initial high oxidation reading. The boron gets used up quickly in this GDI engine, settles down about 80-90ppm.

    VOA on 5w20 Kirkland synthetic

Contact Warren directly. I did last year and the provided a two page spec sheet on Amazon, SuperTech and would probably for Kirkland too. A 5W-20 and 5W-30 of the same make should flow the same in cold temps. The difference is the viscosity at operating temps.

    VOA on 5w20 Kirkland synthetic

I see threads of VOAs on Kirkland 5w-30 from PQIA, from Dec 2020, should be similar with exception of viscosity.

Here is the next oil I will be trying. The last run of Amsoil's European 0W-40 for 11k performed very well considering the GDI high fuel dilution. The TBN for this oil is 12.5, and Viscosity Index is 184. Attached is the spec sheet.

    Amsoil 0W-40 Euro, 10500k, 12' Equinox 2.4L, 150K (Long)

What did you mean "there will be more posts after this." Just curious. Here is pic of the same cylinder head and piston with heavy carbon from running minimum spec oil, fuel, and following GM OLM, and a most current pic of the piston using premium oil and fuel.

    Blackstone turnaround?

They told me last week it was a busy season and looking at 5-7 days, once received. TestOil has always provided the same day. Shipping via USPS takes 3-4 days. You can call their main number and let them know you sent Priority.

    Amsoil 0W-40 Euro, 10500k, 12' Equinox 2.4L, 150K (Long)

Attached are two reports, one from TestOil and the other from BlackStone Labs. Long write up on observations, testing and measurements. 12 samples were taken over 10k miles This engine has a history of suffering from GDI fuel dilution and soot build up, causing excessive timing chain wear, and...

    Fuel dilution DI vs. PI

It was in 2019 when I sampled both AC Delco oil in a quart bottle and from bulk, delivered oil at my local dealer. It was API SN+ and the dealer said it was a Exxon/Mobil finished product. How does one know or find out what the sources is of the Group IV base stock and/or carrier oil in the...

    Fuel dilution DI vs. PI

I use the term shearing to indicate loss in viscosity from what I presume to be break down of the VI modifiers. My understanding shearing can be caused by physical forces or chemical contamination or combination of both. The stability, solubility, and make up of the Group IV base oil and...

    Fuel dilution DI vs. PI

Jim, in the GM 2.4L I often see 3-4% fuel dilution and up to 9-10% during cold weather driving. Using 5W-30 oil. I tried different types of oil and saw an improvement in oil stability. The SuperTech FS lasted less than 2k before it shared to 20 weight. I tried AC Delco FS from the dealer, which...
