Insurance is not an issue. I have had auto insurance coverage the day I picked the car up. They used the VIN. The dealer requested the insurance details and the binder week earlier. I am going to call them today. I doubt calling DMV will help but may do that too.

Consider getting a phone TPU screen protector. Stick that protector on that film and then attach dashcam to the TPU screen protector. When you want to remove it, use floss to remove. TPU will stay there and hopefully will not affect the screen.
