It may have been dripping for a while and you’ve just now noticed. Buy a jug of coolant and take it on your trip. No need to rent a car.

I recently changed my coolant and like you, I had a good bit of stuff stuck on the bottom of my reservoir. I took a garden hose and aimed the nozzle toward the bottom and applied the highest pressure jet I had. After about one minute I had most of it out. Whatever remained is nothing to worry about.
