Honda failed CA emissions... any advice?

Thanks for all the tips everyone. I did a vacuum leak test recently and it came up fine with no leaks detected. This particular motor doesn't have an EGR system, so no worries there. The plugs are only 5000 miles old and look good. I did a seafoam treatment through a vacuum line and tons of...

Honda failed CA emissions... any advice?

Last year I took in my 90 Civic w/1.5 for smog and it barely passed. In the last couple months/5000 miles I've replaced the fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs, oxygen sensor, ignition wires, distributor, and PCV valve. The car does consume about half a quart of oil every 500 miles. I've been...

    Amazon and its crazy pricing

Sounds like quite the steal! A little over a year ago I was looking to purchase a specific Clifford alarm and was quoted about $350 for the alarm plus $150 for install. Thought I'd see if Amazon had the particular model and it did... for $125! I ordered it w/ the free 2-day shipping and took it...

What happens to new cars that don't sell?

Anybody know what happens to new cars on dealer lots that can't sell? There are so many new models produced that I'm sure not every single one of them can be sold. What happens when the dealer just can't sell a car? Do they return it to the manufacturer for recycling? Disassemble it for parts?

Longest your oil has stayed clean? (No bypass!)

There is a 2011 Toyota Tacoma with the 2.7 that we service at work. Use Kendall 0w-20 and an E-core. Owner goes about 5K on it before coming back. The used oil comes out looking brand spankin new.

Purolator 10241 8000 miles cut open

I had an old honda that burned about 1-2 quarts every 500 miles. I used to carry a case of Chevron or Shell oil that I got from CSK for .39 cents a quart. I finally got tired of that and started dumping used oil in it that I collected from friends & my family's vehicles. I figured the oil wasn't...

    Kreen Update

I just wanted to post up another update. I went 1500 miles on my 90 civic (car has 260,000 miles on it) after putting in a pint of Kreen with 10w-30 and the nasty valvetrain noise that I had put up with for the past 10,000 miles since purchasing the car has completely gone away. Oil consumption...
