I watched a show on youtube on growing up in past time periods vs today....

Yup..I hear ya. At the start of my 4 year the prof said products are made for stock holders to make money not for the consumer to save money. I knew I had to finish my degree so when I graduated I said to myself screw this and I took over my dads plumbing heating business. My roommate got the...

    Turning around the Titanic

Disingenuous no.....Its good to be malleable in ones thinking. The right decision was made in the end...who cares how it was arrived at....unless one just likes to find fault with those they don't like for what ever reason. Try to find the good in everything. Even with those ya don't like.

Upper cylinder lubricant which best brand?

Walmart lubricating oil 30wt for pass through applications has no additives..its just 30wt mineral oil. Nothing else. Slipperiest stuff I have ever rubbed on myself....I mean between my fingers... As a 10 year old in 1970 my uncle ran local circle track. He had a bunch of loose heads and valves...

Upper cylinder lubricant which best brand?

UCL is for the exhaust valves and some for the upper ring to take the place of leaded gas. Yea..hardened seats and all..it still helps keeping the seats in good shape. The intakes are less prone to wear and the stems are under vac so some lube makes it down the stems. The exhaust stems see...

I broke the gas water heater

If ya really want to delime your heater use a section of 1/2 copper tube attached to your wet vac. Remove the nipple or valve at the bottom of the heater and vac it out. If electric go through the element opening and use a 3/4 tube.

I broke the gas water heater

Yer supposed to keep the pressure on the heater while the drain valve is open. Most gate valves ( wedge type) have no soft seat. They are okay if the valve is normally closed. If a gate valve is left open the sealing surface gets compromised. A globe valve uses a soft washer. Those temp and...

Where the check valve is located can screw up the guardall pressure switch. they usually dont work unless the house side pressure is dumped. I have epoxied a manual reset 150f thermal hi limit to the pump for protection. Has worked every time it was needed. Ya can pump to about 23-25 feet to...

I broke the gas water heater

Some homes have the pole transformer a long way from the home. Couple that with a poor ground rod at the home...like in dry sand...and the gas waterheater ends up being a partial ground out the gas line. That will chew up the anode faster..sometimes a lot faster. It just takes a microamp to do...

Upper cylinder lubricant which best brand?

I use upper lube for the valve seats and stems. I dont want my exhaust valves pocketing on my shim and bucket system...and my motor runs smoother with it. I know the seats are hardened but its like grandmas chicken soup..might not be much help but certainly won't hurt... no...I don't use...

Recommended Oil for Small Fan Bushings?

Noise might be the rotor rubbing against the field iron. Try the fan upside down and see if it returns when warm if ya can. I have turned some furnace fan motors 180 degrees and most lasted another 5 years.

    Under-sink shutoff valve washer ?

The stem threads fill with debris over time and hold up the works. Some plastic stemed stops swell also. Never install a globe or gate valve with the stem pointing down or it will catch debris. Those 1/4 turn stops have an o-ring for the stem seal. They have been known to leak there after awhile...
