What Year Did you Start Using Synthetic Motor Oil?

2000? Whenever Mobil 1 was still on their tri-synthetic marketing.

    cars with high mileage

Let's see...my '99 Civic has 260k, '97 Grand Cherokee has 208k, and my '96 Camaro has roughly 215k. All original engines and transmissions. Parent's cars that I've been maintaining both have over 220k each as well.

When do you guys change tires - wear bar, etc

Once it's nearing 5/32, I start checking more often and watching for deals. If it's my parent's cars or my girl's, I'll change them sooner than my own.

Decent tire for my wifes Honda Civic?

I had Kumhos and they wore out very quickly, even with my tame driving. Also in the Bay Area and also in a similar vintage Civic. You can also scratch spending more for the Michelin Premier A/S as mine are down to 4/32 after just under 30K miles.

Driven with no oil - Wife's 2000 Accord

Glad to hear major problem was averted, sounds like it's minimally worse for wear. Sometimes we dodge bullets, sometimes we get tagged. By the way, do you have a minute to listen to a product testimonial of a new product you might not have heard of: Restore? =P

How Many of You Use High Mileage Oil?

I, too, have an older fleet. I've been using high mileage oils in all of them though most still use some oil. I've tried M1 HM, Pennzoil HM, and Valvoline Maxlife with no real difference noticed between any of them.

How long do Rhino Ramps last?

Mine are older than 10 years and maybe closer to about 15 years and I've had no issues with them. I use them in my flat garage about 4-5x a year for oil changes and use them with some cheap-o jack stands and some wheel chocks. Like many of you guys, my rubber inserts are somewhere. Either in...

Do I reallyyyyy need new tires?

    > But I'm also disappointed at Michelin, the long term quality of their most expensive tire just sucks. Tires do age, regardless of however many miles were driven on them. You mentioned they were manufactured in April of 2014 so they are more than four years old. Tires are not lifetime parts...

Do you buy OEM fuel filters or aftermarket?

I've always bought OEM fuel filters, and OEM items in general, but noticed that the OEM fuel filter (Filtech) for my Civic is almost 2x the price of a Fram/Wix and 4x the price of a Champion Labs. I'm curious if there is any real difference in quality between the OEM and one from one of the...

Two weeks of fire particle/unhealthy air, adjust OCI?

Hi all, I live in Northern California/Bay Area and up until a few days ago, we had some really bad air quality due to the Camp Fire. Air quality was over 200, almost touching 250 in my area. From my understanding, the danger was particles as small as 2.5 microns and below in the air...

    Wait... FRAM??

I stocked up on a few years supply of Fram Ultras when they were on sale on Amazon a while back. As long as they make them, they'll be all I'll use until they give me a reason not to. Used to be Purolator filters but since their fiasco, they're out. Fram hasn't given me a reason to look elsewhere.

Review - Sonax Spray and Seal.

Thanks for sharing your experience with this product. I saw it recently on my Amazon suggested items. If anyone is familiar with Sonax products, would this be redundant to use with Sonax Net Shield? I'm unfamiliar with sealants and such.
