Risk of ATF extraction through dipstick?

Is the filter held in place by the pan? I didn’t use too much force but wasn’t easy on it either, If the filter is held in there I guess I’m not too worried.

Risk of ATF extraction through dipstick?

I looked for one but came up empty.

Risk of ATF extraction through dipstick?

My son has a 2008 Ford Focus that doesn’t have a drain bolt. I used a fluid extractor through the dipstick to siphon out as much as I could, I topped it off and all is well but while I was shoving the tube down I seem to be pushing past things in the pan area. My question is, can this pop the...

    Oil Extractor Experience

I use the harbor freight 9l extractor, works good on transmissions, many trannys don’t have drain plugs. The down side, it’s slow. I’m also worried I’m going to break a solenoid wire or something but so far haven’t.

    Possible Return of the Xterra?

I have 2 2018 Nissan’s an Armada and a Titan. The Titan required a new engine at 10k miles and the Armada at 50k, the pistons were engineered wrong and ruined the blocks, pretty much all 5.6’s 2016-2019 are effected by this. The Armada has hands down been the worst car we’ve ever owned, thank...

post your latest transmission lubricant change.

I’m gonna post my last two. My sons 2000 Toyota Corolla, I bought it for the kids 6 years ago with less than 100k miles for $2000. Put $300 worth of ball joints, shocks and all new fluids in it. This included a new tranny filter and Walmart brand atf. At around 250k miles I got around to...

2005 honda crv coolant leak/heating issues

Gotcha, once you get the trim off the radiator is a n easy job, I’ve done a couple crv’s. The external atf filter is right behind the radiator on some models too so would be a good time to change it.

Best mercon LV for cold weather

All our vehicles are set up with engine block heaters but none have transmission heaters. I’m sure the block heater helps with the transmission but I’m not sure how much. I suppose it gets run through the radiator at warm up and that should heat it some?

2005 honda crv coolant leak/heating issues

I live 75 miles south of Winnipeg Manitoba in the states. I noticed a couple days ago my daughters 2003 Crv was leaking from the top hose and atf from the rubber radiator atf return line. The cold had shrunk the fittings or maybe the rubber was so hard it couldn’t seal, I don’t know but I...

Wow the d-6 pour point is -76f

Best mercon LV for cold weather

The mag1 data sheet states the pour point is -60f, that’s pretty impressive. maxlife and mc mercon lv both have a pour point of -48 but if you look at the viscosity stated for them at -40 maxlife is 9000 and MC lv is 10200. You’d think maxlife would have the lower pour point. honestly after...

Best mercon LV for cold weather

On the contrary his response was very informative, I had assumed it was conventional and am leaning towards just using MC lv now. Conventional tends to have worse cold weather properties vs synthetics so I asked to see if there was something I was unaware of on the market thinking there was...

Best mercon LV for cold weather

Yeah, is there an ATF that flows better than MC mercon LV at -40 and will also work long term over the rest of the seasons. I see options but are any better than the other?

Best mercon LV for cold weather

The Ford Dealer here told me they don’t change ATF on the focus, it causes more harm than good. I find that hard to believe, lol.

Best mercon LV for cold weather

Lol, should have just said Fahrenheit but couldn’t remember how to spell it and my spell check wasn’t helping, lol. I live up by Canada so have to differentiate, lol.

Best mercon LV for cold weather

Makes sense I don’t recall seeing synthetic on Honda dw-1 bottles but it’s synthetic. the maxlife flowed about like 15w-40 at 70 degrees when it was -20, which isn’t bad but it flows like water when warm.

Exhaust smell in Air Conditioning at idle

Check the donut gasket at the manifold, very common to get exhaust in the cab if it’s leaking there and they go bad pretty often.
