My youngest daughter is home from college, so time to change the Sentra‘s oil. Out: 4.0 liters Castrol Edge 0W-20 and a Fram orange can 6607 In: 4.0 liters Castrol Edge 0W-20 and a Fram Tough Guard 6607 I had to order Castrol CVT fluid for it today (no one has any in stock???), so I’ll be...

Friend wants high-flow oil filter for Civic Si

It seems most of the Japan OEM filters prioritize flow over filtration anyway. I never needed anything special on my old ‘07. Used OEM or a Toughgard and syn 5w-30.

What are you working on today?

Changed the brakes on my daughters Sportage. Went with Powerstop Evolution Z17 ceramic pads and Raybestos Element3 rotors all the way around. It has 77,000 miles on it and the fronts has a couple mm left, the rears probably could have went another 50,000 miles easily, but I changed them anyway.

    Thoughts on Super Tech?

I’m using the high mileage syn in my kids oil burning Kia 2.4. It’s the only oil I’ve found so far to really slow down the consumption. It went from a quart every 2,000 miles or so to 1/2 a quart in 5,000 miles. It works great in her application for sure!

    Car air fresheners: PSA

I use these in my truck. Mainly because I like the flag design. The kids use various cr@p in theirs, because their cars STINK! My wife says nothing in hers.

    White Vehicle??

Both my Silverado and my wife’s XC90 are white. Mines pure white and the Volvo is a pearl white. In TX, white cars are cooler!

What happened to the 100,000 mile spark plugs?

Our Volvo calls for every 60,000 miles. I pulled these out tonight at 65,000. The gap was a little more than the new plugs, and it does run a little smoother too. BTW-It’s a shadow on the insulator, they actually didn’t look too bad.

What are you working on today?

Changed the spark plugs in the wife’s XC90. It’s hard to believe the dealer charges $350-$400 for this. Took about 20 minutes. They’re due at 60,000 and she has just over 65,000. It did smooth out the engine a bit. The gap was a little bigger on the old ones. Other than that, they look good to...

    Mobil 0W-30 @ Walmart

Mobil 1 has been slim pickings at my local Walmart for a couple months. Last month, they barely had any motor oil on the shelves.

    New green Havoline Pro-RS

The NOACK is nice on the base oil listed. Depending on price, this looks like a good option.

    Looking for Quiet All Terrains

I habe them on my Z71. I love everything about them except for the tread wear! I have just over 16,000 miles on them and Discount said I’m down to 6/32” yesterday when I had them rotated for the 3rd time. They still have great grip, wet and dry, and quiet. Just wear the tread very fast!

What are you working on today?

Changed both the front and rear diffs and the transfer case fluids on my truck yesterday. Rolling around on the garage floor for a couple of hours. Boy is my body aching today! Getting old sucks LOL!

is Mobil 1™ Synthetic LV ATF HP compatible with dexron VI ATF?

I just did mine with Maxlife. I sucked it out through the dipstick tube and was able to get out just over 4.25 quarts. Just over 36,000 on mine and the fluid I pulled out looked great.

Hyundai / Kia 2.4L Theta II GDI Engine Best Oil Sweet Spot

The only thing I’ve found that my daughter‘s Kia 2.4l doesn’t drink is Supertech high mileage 10w-30.

    Oil to reduce consumption

The oil that really slowed down consumption in my daughter's Kia is Supertech High Mileage Full Syn. I went with a 10W-30, which is the thickest allowed in the manual. It slowed it down a ton, and it’s cheap!

    Brake pads and rotors.

I just put some Napa premium rotors and Adaptive One pads on the rear of my wife’s Volvo. Napa had a 15% off code to order online and pickup at the store. I’m really happy with them so far, and will put them on the front when they’re needed.

What are you working on today?

Changed the rear brake pads and rotors on the wife’s Volvo. Went with Napa Premium rotors and Napa Adaptive One Euro pads. Easier than I thought it would be. It did have a few quirky Euro differences, but overall pretty much like other cars I’ve done.

Free lifetime oil change. FCP Euro.

I need to try it one day. I’ve been buying the oil change kits for our Volvo from them. They’re priced right and have everything I need on one receipt (great for records). I’ve never bothered sending one back though. I’ll have to try on the next one.
