    Moving states

Be warned. The climate here sucks. 3 weeks of Spring between April and May, then scorching heat and suffocating humidity well into October. Epic ice storms and infrastructure issues between December and March. You'll constantly be preparing for hail, high winds, tornados and flash flooding. If I...

How long do pilots wait for passengers of connecting flight to board before the door is closed ?

It floors me when I see connecting flights in and out of Atlanta with a 35 minute connection. That's basically banking on the arriving flight coming from the West catching the jet stream and getting to Atlanta early in order for anyone to make it. I won't book that, I don't need the stress...

What are you working on today?

Not really doing the work, but if I had the space I definitely would. Very excited about the arrival of the new cylinder head for my Shadow's 3.0. Hoping I can put the smoke-at-startup issue to bed with this little beauty. The gaggle of incompetents that had my car for 5 months put a...

    More crazy neighbor stories

I detest my HOA, not because they hassle me, but because they don't hassle other people nearly enough. I've been meaning to call them about a sign that's been posted at one of the community entrances, right by the landmark sign, advertising a business. "We pick up poop". Classy. I hope I don't...

First transmission drain and refill at 83K?

Get that filter out, clean your pan and magnets, and refill with Mazda fluid.

A way to reduce homeless drug problem in my area?

The way I see our homeless crowd in Dallas, until you completely remove the drug element, nothing with them will change. The only solution I can envision is to change some laws around so that people's constitutional rights can be "altered" when they become homeless due to drug use and put them...

    Coffee is coffee. Period.

I drink regular Folgers out of a Bunn coffee maker at home. My office has the Keurig machines with a wide variety of coffee pods. I drink Starbucks Pike Place there. Two jobs ago (Verizon) we had these off-brand packages of coffee that go in the huge carafe brewers. That crud was nearly...

Drinking and driving, a reminder you never want to be in.

In 2000, my sister and her boyfriend were enjoying margaritas at her house, and he left to go to his house. After not receiving the usual "I'm home" call, and an hour of trying to reach him on his cell phone, to no avail, in a panic, she jumped in her car to go look for him. She rounded the...

    Drink Coffee Black, Cream, Sweetener?

My coffee is barely coffee by the time I'm done with it. I load it with Coffee Mate and sugar. No idea how people drink it black. I've tried transitioning to every artificial sweetener out there, and they all give it a nasty taste. Some of them also have frightening health side effects. The...

Wisconsin unemployment initial claim takes months

Yep, the process of setting them up to take their share out of your paycheck is quick and easy.

    {Really worried} Accidentally poured 2 20 oz of Techron

I've used that stuff full strength to clean carburetor parts. Won't hurt anything. Might actually remove some varnish from your gas tank, fuel pump and injectors.

Car and Driver list of best vehicles assembled in the U.S.

So funny (to me) that you posted this because Csaba Csere entered my mind as I was making my way through this thread. Thank you.

Who else rolls around on the ground greasing ball joints and such?

Got a brand new set of lower control arms installed on the Shadow about 18 months ago, wasn't sure if they were greased from the factory, or if the shop greased them, so I crawled under there and added some. Tore the boot. I give up.

Carbureted vs Electronic Fuel Injection Road Tripping

There are some cases where you're better off with a carburetor, such as with '90s GM vehicles. I worked in the parts department of a Pontiac Olds GMC dealership from '89 to '92, and I amassed quite a collection of ECMs in the far corner of the receiving room from where they simply failed and...

    Ford Ecoboost 2.3

2.3 & 10r80 is a pretty fiesty combination, at least in the Mustang. I had two pre-revision 10r80s in Mustangs, so ended up hating the cars, but with a 2025, you'll be fine. Run 93 in it, I promise it makes a difference.

    guys over 50 doing maintenance

I installed a NOS passenger side headlight and sanded / buffed / ceramic coated the driver's side and re-installed, and I feel like somebody has beaten me with a bat. I still need to get out in the driveway and wash it because it looks terrible, but my body is flipping me the bird. Turned 55 in...

Why are vinyl seats no longer an option?

2024 Kia Forte ... 100% "vinyl". Synthetic seating used to get scorching hot in the sun. The new stuff behaves much like high-end leather and doesn't burn flesh, nor does it get hard in the cold.

    Transmission running hot

I know it's not the same transmission, but the 10r80 in the Mustang rides at 200 as it's normal temperature. Pulled this picture from the internet for reference, this guy's transmission is overheating, but mine rode straight up 200 all the time.

Car prices to rise due to tariffs and certain vehicles possibly ...

Save money by living 10 in a household? Take part in the public nuisance that is one house with eight cars parked out front? No thanks, but you're more than welcome to live like our immigrant forefathers if you like.
