    2012 CBR 1000RR GN4 10w-30

Thank you, Sir. This is enlightening. I remember GN is the original factory fill? 100 mileage shows a viscosity of 20wt oil, which indicates the orgingal is nearly a 20wt. I currently use 40wt on my Honda scooter, viscosity is 14.2. Based on this report, I would boldly change to 30wt oil...

Thank you, Sir. It is not shared sump, a scooter usually uses seperate oils for engine and transmission.

    Help: Red Line 10W-30 vs Mobil 1 5W-30 ?

I am looking for an good oil for my Honda scooter. The Red Line looks good, 12 viscosity and very high HTHS of 3.6 v.s Mobil 1 of 11 viscosity and HTHS 3.1. Red Line ester-based, and much more expensive. So, is Red Line a good choice? better than Mobil 1? Thank you very much.

Help: Mobil 1, ESP 5W-30, looks much better?

ESP: 100 Viscosity 12, HTHS 3.5, looks tough. Standard: 100 viscosity 11, HTHS 3.1 ESP appears to be the perfect fit for my needs, i.e. not very thin with good HTHS. I am guessing, there must be a downside to ESP, it can't be all good with no bad. Thanks.

    Downside of using 0W-40 v.s 5W-30?

This is exactly what I been struggling to understand. Does the Japanese engine benefit less from 40 oil, put fuel efficiency off the equation here.

    Downside of using 0W-40 v.s 5W-30?

I heard that, the 10W30 may have less VII improver, but it's base oil is not as good as that of 40. Is it true. And also I am amazed 30 oil has a HTHS of 3.5, how did it happen? because, usually 30 oil HTHS does not surpass 3.1

    Downside of using 0W-40 v.s 5W-30?

In fact, what I want to know is, regardless of engine type Jpn or Europe, does 40 provide better protection nontheless?

    Downside of using 0W-40 v.s 5W-30?

Caught between the two. The mannual says 10W-30. I am wondering apart from more fuel consumption, what other disadvantages does the 40 oil have? Is it true that the 40 oil protect engine better than the 30? Thank you.

Gear oil v.s standard engine oil ?

Well, if I can't use the gear oil, I may just use the Mobil or Shell 0w-40 for the transmission.

Gear oil v.s standard engine oil ?

My scooter "Honda PCX" mannual says: gear oil, 10W-30, MB, SL which is also the recommended engine oil. I found motorbike gear oil specs: Motul, 80W-90 GL-5 and Speedmaster, 85W-140, GL-5. Huge difference by the look of numbers, 10W-30 v.s 80W-90 even 85W-140, and API SL v.s API GL-5. So...

PCX150 Honda, What oil to use?

Mannual states 10W-30, MB, SL. My riding behaviour: short daily urban trips 10-20km with occasional long-haul tour up to 5000 miles. I am thinking using Mobil 0W-30, but concern it may not provide enough protection for intense driving, therefore lean towards 0W-40. So, which one is better?
