    Universal HVAC Capacitor

That's a lot of money to spend for a "universal" cap. Made in USA is a plus. But typical combined caps (for condenser and fan) are around $15 to $25; far cheaper to just buy the "right" one in advance and have it as a spare, rather than spending $85.

Sadly true. Totally wrong to do so, but that doesn't stop folks. Again, true. And again, totally wrong to do so, but that doesn't stop folks. All we can do is continue to dispel the inaccurate myths and prevalent rhetoric of the uneducated.

    HVAC Woes

    - First, get multiple diagnosis/quotes from different sources. - Make sure you tell them to break the estimate down to parts and labor. - Then, buy the part online, and pay for the labor. HVAC repairs are a massive rip-off. I know; I worked for a major HVAC manufacturer. The mark-up...

    2024 Chevy Tahoe LM2 Duramax 5,550 miles/114 hours on oil - 20,650 total miles/422 total hours - HPL 5w-30 Dexos D

Incorrect assessment. Do not confuse correlation with causation. No oil of a decent pedigree is going to cause (literally) dozens of slivers of material to appear in a filter. In the final chapter (other thread) there is enough wear metals in the filter to appear as if it were a 1970's disco...

2024 Tahoe LM2 Duramax 27.3k mi; HPL Dexos D 5w-30 12.2k mi; excessive Cu and Tn

This is a perfect example of the power of UOAs. Relatively speaking, they are, by far, the least expensive means of measuring wear rates. In many cases, UOAs simply show "normal" wear ongoing, and the "normalcy" of that wear is unable to distinguish variances of life's inputs (daily driving...

2016 Subaru Forester 2.5 uoa comparison results

Both UOAs indicate everything went well. Singular UOAs (or even small sample sets) are not a means to properly judge relative performance of one lube to another. read this ... https://bobistheoilguy.com/used-oil-analysis-how-to-decide-what-is-normal/

    Wix 51348 c&p

Filter looks good. I wasn't aware the PI version took that little filter. The "normal" 51372 is larger, with metric threads. I assume the smaller one is due to some sort of space constraint?

Why are ants climbing my chimney?

I stand corrected. My apologies. However, they are intended to disrupt the central nervous system and ultimately result in the demise of the insect. And they are generally referred to as "insecticides", are they not? ("-cide" resulting in death ...) I've used deltamethrin in liquid...

Why are ants climbing my chimney?

Deltamethrin and cypermethrin are not "repellents". They are insecticides; they are intended to kill the infestation via feeding and/or direct contact.

Why are ants climbing my chimney?

There's only two reasons for them to be there; food and shelter. Neither is a good thing for you. Use some deltamethrin or cypermethrin and get rid of them.

Best Oil for potential collection car

What lubes are available in your area? It's hard for us to know what to recommend without understanding what's available in your market. Also, you haven't stated what your OCI plan is. That would affect the recommendation as well.

That cannot happen for a few reasons. - we will not publish a list of illicit words; that would be hypocritical - the list would not be able to be seen, as the automated filter would blank them out Profane language is not unique to any one religion, or lack thereof. Coolant hoses for oil cooler... change interval?

It's hard to know for sure when a coolant hose is going to fail. The obvious outwards signs (cracking; seeping) are easy to spot. It's the inside issues which catch you off guard. I'm generally comfortable with OE hoses going 10 years no problem, even 15 years perhaps. After that, it's...

Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys just passed away at 82

RIP BW. The first concert I ever saw was the Beach Boys at the Indiana state Fair. Always loved their upbeat songs and harmony. Brian was a true talent; his ability to conceptualize and write complimented his performance on stage.

2023 ES350 multiple system errors and root cause

On the same network CAN line; that could be plausible. I had a similar experience with a friend's 4Runner. We changed spark plugs, and forgot to connect one of the many vacuum lines. So when we started it, it threw not only a CEL, but also codes for the A-Trac and Hill Descent functions...

2023 ES350 multiple system errors and root cause

Not the battery; I checked both the static and dynamic voltages. And drop from battery to ground. They were all fine. You're missing the point. It was bad gas that caused the problem. There were no other stored codes and no other damage. My question is WHY would the CEL also cause all...
