    2008 Dodge Ram 3500, 13k miles, MCSD 15w40

HHB, The op has been experiencing oxidation, oxidative thickening, as well as increased wear metal numbers. Here is a quick read on how temps effect engine oil. https://www.machinerylubrication.com/Read/349/egr-oil-diesel-engines

This uoa looks a lot better with just one run of the mc oil. Wonder how the motorcraft oil would do if the egr was plugged back in.

    2015 Ford Powerstroke - Delo CJ4 5W40 synthetic - 114K miles

That’s why I am curious about the hours as well. Increased hours could explain the small spike in wear metals. As dnewtons said though. Good wearing engine. I plan to track my miles and hours per oci just so that I have 2 points of reference for wear pattern. Nice Report. Thanks for sharing

    2017 6.7 Powerstroke UOA

Hoping Beercan isn't offended , but I snipped his most recent UOA and attached it for comparison. His run at 21k miles has similar results to mine. Makes me lean more towards break in wear.

    2008 Dodge Ram 3500, 11k miles, RT6

Over on the tdi club, someone is having similar issues with ck4 rotella t6 and oxidative thickening with an early 2000s tdi running 10k interval I believe. Eager to see the motorcraft results. Thanks for sharing!

Oil color after 100 miles 05 Passat TDI

Cj4 does awesome in a pd engine which is what the op has. I have been running it for a while in my 04 bew. I would assume the ck4 would so equally as well. I have not done a uoa on ck4 in my 04 since I still have a stash of cj4. You are correct the flat tappet tdi engines are picky about oil for...

    2008 Dodge Ram 3500, 14.5k miles, Rotella T6

This has my curiousity. The oil thickening seems excessive for the miles on this oil. I wonder how many hours are on these runs. OP. Have you been tracking hours at all?

x2 Looks like a good blend. Phosphorus and zinc are above 1000 ppm. Decent bit of boron as well. That is from a uoa i found posted in 2012. Assuming they didn't change the formula.... The oil in the uoa has a 235hr run on it.

10,000 miles/425 Hours on oil. 25,200 miles on unit. Motorcraft dino 10w30 diesel oil with 13 ounces of Schaeffer 132 added. 1 ounce zddp added halfway through the run to help boost numbers (probably will not do this again this oil change). . Let me know what you guys think.
