Who's running High Performance Lubricants (HPL) products in their engine?

Changed the oil in both my Infinity G35s. 06 G35x and 03 G35. RWD car can fit a much larger oil filter so of course I obliged. Both cars filled with HPL Supercar 0w40 for the winter. Well the G35 actually got a half quart of Supercar 5w40 out of the bucket I bought since it's larger oil filter...

Snap-On vs. Matco vs. Gearwrench Metric Universal Impact Extensions

No one will ever convince me that snap-off tools are worth their price tag. I laugh at people that get on that truck now. $480 for six pieces? Are they made from the heart of a dying star?

RWD? FWD? AWD? What's best in snow, by how much?

RWD with a limited slip is much easier to control vs FWD open diff, and two tires of traction makes acceleration way better. I've never had a FWD car with a limited slip. I'm about to have an AWD car with a rear limited slip, and I'm hoping it's as awesome as I've been imagining. It'll get a...

    That's a matter of perspective.

    All the locked threads...why?

Sir, this is oil church. Sit up straight and don't say naughty words. No talking while the deacons are speaking.

210,000 miles with K&N air intake system

I think the AEM Dryflo and the Injen Super Nano-web filters are better options without the cleaning pains. I'm pretty sure the Injen Nano-webs use the same tech as the air filters Amsoil was selling for a while did.

    B'laster Surface Shield Rust Protectant

This is bologna. Insurance is a scam altogether. I sprayed it in my wheel wells and it's still there after three months of winter and rain. It's almost like they tested the product before they released it! *GASP* The video includes "paid promotion" because Blaster sent him a bucket of the stuff...

The Frequently Quoted “Taxi Study” SAE 2005-01-3818

I get the point of the study, but without a comparison to oils with higher hths it really doesn’t do anything for the thick vs thin debate. While I think it does get blown out of proportion, I think most people who are on the thick side just want less wear, and for their engine to perform at...

OIl Grade Suggestion for 300k 6.0L Chevy..

Like someone else said, make sure your PCV system is in good shape. Are you using a factory air filter?

Anti seize for exhaust manifold does not work

A good way to crack the manifold.

Anti seize for exhaust manifold does not work

Buy a grade 12.9 screw and a lock washer, slather it in anti-seize, and only tighten it enough to compress the lockwasher.

    VK56 Engine Teardown

Varnish does not build up on crank main or rod journals, or the surfaces of the camshaft that roll against an oil film or bucket. This was a straight up oil failure, where it had been used too long and probably had a low crankcase level. Super extended drains over time probably slowly wore the...

    VK56 Engine Teardown

I'm not sure how you're drawing the conclusion that the varnish is what killed this engine. Can you explain?

    Sugar withdrawals

ERR wrong. Fruit and raw honey are NOT processed by the body in the same way as processed sugar is. Fructose in whole foods is not detrimental to humans. They are both evolutionarily consistent sources of carbohydrates. Multiple weight loss studies to prove this. You do not need to be on a low...

    Sugar withdrawals

Fruit and RAW honey! These are not the same as processed sugar in the human diet. Plenty of people will tell you they are, but international studies say otherwise. You'd be amazed at how satiating a couple tbsp of honey and a few cups of fresh pineapple are to that sweet tooth!

Mobil 1 Through 3 CRITICAL Engine Oil Tests

Interesting, but I'd rather see compression and leakdown numbers on the engine before and after. The bearings should never see any kind of wear in an engine anyway, and while that speaks to the oils effectiveness, it's less interesting than seeing what happens to the parts most heavily worn in...
